it's only a matter of time before russia takes more land, until eventually the whole country is absorbed. this is playing out just like when Germany annexed Czechoslovakia, one push at a time, using the ethnic german population as an excuse, exactly the same. history is repeating and no one seems to notice, that will only end badly at some point and the west will be unprepared once again.

Do you know what? People do recognise what Outlet is up to. Well people with atleast a few braincells.

But NATO and the ruskies don't actually want confrontation. Like I posted earlier 17 Russian jets "swarmed" a Royal Navy T45 destroyer and nowt happened. Russian jets fly into or near UK territory nowt happens. If the uk announced it would send 10k troops into ukraine?

[SNIP] The chief of general staff in my country ,(UK obviously), is using the Russian bullying as an excuse for more funding. Even though our military needs it.

But despite our military being the weakest for atleast 15 years they do nowt.

Sounds like you're justifying Russia taking half of ukraine. And ok ukraine has major corruption issues I agree, but so do the vast majority countries in the world (especially uk my country).

But don't start the Nazi bull# there's loads in the Soviet.....ugh Russia.

Not trying to justify anything eve though Ukraine is Russia's backyard and many many many people there speak Russian and are culturally intertwined with being Slav and part of the old Russian domain be it empire or USSR.

Ukraine has been kidnapped by outside influences ie Porkyshenkos lot and one day this will be overturned, maybe sooner than we think, if Trump allows it

Why is that?

Because a war with Russia isn't wanted? If that makes me a "putin buttlicker", so be it.

Under what aegis does the U.S. even get involved? Certainly not as a part of NATO, since the Ukraine isn't in NATO...

I suspect that it is just more of your "orange man bad" riff. Try the decaf.

It is unlikely anyone beyond Ukraine or Russia will make any further actions in this conflict.

The big question now is whether the US — along with others in the international community — will seriously respond to Moscow’s aggression. As of now, that looks unlikely.

In the measure of national corruption, Russia comes worse than Ukraine. Remember that the 2014 revolution in Ukraine (aka the Euromaidan protests) were also a protest against the corruption with the pro-Russian government of the time. The 2017 results from Transparency International puts Russia as very corrupt and 135 of 180 countries, with Ukraine just a little better at 130 of 180. In comparison the UK is pretty good, being the 8th lest corrupt nation.

Transparency International

When was the last time you paid a judge in the UK to stick a journalist in gaol? Happens all the time in Russia!

Anyway, corruption is not the issue here. The OP covers Russian belligerence towards Ukraine. Plain and simple.

I noticed. I even posted about it back in August of 2014. U.S. official says 1,000 Russian troops enter Ukraine

So, the whole Ukraine - Russia conflict sounds like the start of WW2 part II.

First we have the invasion of the Sudetenland (Crimea in this case) to "protect" the ethnic Russian citizens.

Now we have the invasion of Poland (Ukraine in this case) after staging an incident (the downing of MH17).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Putin is Hitler...I'm just saying that it looks like he's taking a page out of Hitler's playbook on how to invade a country and get away without too much fallout.

It's deja vu all over again!

Yes, Russia is certainly trying to get a reaction over and above the punitive sanctions levelled for their behaviour so far. The invasion and annexation of Crimea, their meddling in eastern Ukraine that has resulted in a toll of 10,000 lives lost, plus their complicity in the shooting down of MH17. Now the blocking of the Sea of Azov and the economic implications that has on Ukraine. Russia just keep trying to escalate.

It's no fun being a neighbour of the pariah Russia. The Baltic states are thankful that they are members of NATO.

i really dont understand how people can be on this site for years and still swallow the mainstream narrative hook line and sinker every #ing time.

for example here is the statement by Russia on the military incident in Crimea through a respected site.

"he Foreign Ministry hereby issues a strong protest against the gross violation of the rules of peaceful passage in the territorial waters of the Russian Federation in the Black Sea by Ukrainian naval ships, that took place on November 25, 2018. Russia has lodged a demand for an urgent UN Security Council meeting to discuss the current situation.

Russia has repeatedly warned the Kiev regime and its Western patrons about the danger of inflating artificial hysteria in connection with the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait. Clearly, this is a well-thought-out provocation that took place in a predetermined place and form and is aimed at creating another hotbed of tension in that region and a pretext for stepping up sanctions against Russia. Clearly, all of this was also designed to distract attention from the domestic political problems that exist in Ukraine. This assumption is further corroborated by Kiev’s plans to impose martial law in the country, a move which is odious in the light of the upcoming presidential elections in the spring of 2019.

We are also outraged by the Ukrainian radicals unleashing another attack on Russia’s diplomatic missions, and the damage it caused. We demand that Kiev bring those responsible to justice and ensure the unconditional inviolability of the Russian Embassy and Consulate Generals in Ukraine in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.

We are hereby issuing a warning to Ukraine that Kiev’s policy, pursued in coordination with the United States and the EU, that seeks to provoke a conflict with Russia in the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea is fraught with serious consequences. The Russian Federation will firmly curb any attempts to encroach on its sovereignty and security."

www.voltairenet.org...

and here is video and documentary evidence in another aggregate site

southfront.org...

Summing up the existing data, it can be concluded that:

When the Ukrainian warships entered Russian territorial waters, there has been an attempt to block the advance of the Ukrainian naval group.
One of the ships of the Russian Federal Security Service’s Border Service provoked a maritime collision accident with a Ukrainian ship by putting own hull on the vector of the Ukrainian warship’s advance.
In the start of the video, it’s possible to hear multiple requests to the Ukrainian warships to stop their advance.
Within the next few hours, there was a close escort of the Ukrainian ships by the Russian naval group.
Apparently, both the groups were inside or near the Russian marginal waters.
In a couple of hours, there was a firefight accident between the Russian and Ukrainian naval groups.
The Ukrainian Navy recognizes that the incident happened near the border line of the Russian 12-nautical miles zone.
The Ukrainian naval group was completely suppressed by the Russian naval group.
There were casualties among the Ukrainian servicemen.
Warships of the Ukrainian naval group suffered damages.
It is confirmed that the Ukrainian naval group was blocked and is now escorted/towed by the Russian naval group in the direction of the Russian port of Kerch, Crimea.

Additionally, the interesting facts are that European mainstream media are actively covering the escalation in the Black Sea, expectedly supporting the Ukrainian position (for example, Euronews). NATO leadership and US diplomats called on the sides involved to keep restraint. From their side, US mainstream media outlets have kept a pause exactly to this moment (23:00 EET).
It should be noted that the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) carrier strike group is currently conducting drills in the Mediterranean Sea. It entered the sea on November 19.

I think that's the problem. Russian territorial waters have been illegally imposed, thus blockading Ukraine. Russia seems to have thrown out previous treaties around the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov which shares territorial waters in these areas.

not really. i am not aware of russia illegally imposing any limits.

heres the video of the interrogation and confession of the sailors (just following orders, obviously)
www.zerohedge.com...
and jail (civvy charges, border violation) for two of them (only young lads, eh. must be scared) a third has been identified as an agent with the Main Directorate of Military Counterintelligence of Ukraine’s Security Service.

heres latest
www.zerohedge.com...

so i would keep an eye on this
www.rt.com...
so if they are imposing martial law does that mmean we wont have to defend their democracy then.
didnt we just give these wankers some frigates or something like that.
what could possibly go wrong?

That mayor of course is America's product of your Regime Change American. Which took place in Kiev in 2015. Replacing anyone whose Pro Russian with anyone with a Pro American/Pro NATO mindset.

Your regime changes worked out so well in Libya and Ukraine and in Iraq didn't it? lol. Oh and by the way this is so called election in Ukraine is all about selecting whichever new puppet comes to Kiev.

The Queen haired Yulia Tymoshenko comeback puppet vs Petro Poroshenko the candy billionaire. So Ukrainians are literately with two bad billionaire whom wont give a crap about their own people but the interests of America and NATO.
