Well 1st off AIDS,HIV are diseases that are man made,why not quit creating these diseases then it stops the the potential,,it's because they use them to control populace,why would it be ok for a race of humans,who destroy more then they create,to alter a human in anyway,be like sticking a fork into a light socket

And then what happens when that person procreates with someone else? Evolution doesn't just stop, a mutation can happen with any offspring, which means from then on all that persons children, and their children's, children would need to be genetically modified as well. And not to mention, HIV / AIDS it's a virus, a living thing, it can easily evolve as well.

Currently, about 1 percent of the population is totally immune to the disease.Seems like what they did was make sure these children were in that 1 percent. If you want to know if your immune you can have it tested 23 and me the reason it works against all versions of HIV is it doesnt allow the virus to enter the cell. When the virus tries to bond with someone with a CCR5 variation it sends a stop codon turning off the receptor. Doesnt matter in the least how the virus alters itself if it cant enter a cell to reproduce.

Oh and one more thing its just a matter of time until we can use gene therapy to cure cancer, It will get to the point you go to the doctor get a shot and the cancer disappears if you have known anyone who died of cancer this will be like a miracle.

I’m not so sure this will work beyond limited use.

Our dna does not determine our destiny in the majority.

Most of our health problems are epigenetic. Somewhere around 10-20% of our disease is due to genetics.

I would guess stuff like this is 50+ years from the past, and we are just now hearing about it as something new.

If the OP is true, then this is worrying. It's worrying because a DNA alteration in humans is now capable of being passed on to children who will inherit the changes - for good or bad. It also sets a precedent. Sounds good, but who knows the long term consequences of fannying about with human DNA?

Luckily gene editing remains ethically problematic and illegal in the civilised world.
