I will not try to back up the products of the US educational system.

But It isn’t just ‘Americans’ that have problems with the written word.

Make sure to add racist to that list as well.

Speaking of which; I often like to point out to the inhabitants of the "Land of The Free", their House & Congress rule with Fascism.

Nothing is by accident

People here in America tend to create and redefine terms to bolster their opinions on a whim. It's definitely annoying.

Grammatically I cringe when people mix up "a" and "an", personally.

You mean like "catalogue", "cheque" and "colour"?

Sorry about that; we'll get right on it.

Only so many U tiles in a set of Scabble. Four I think, so we had to cut out the unnecessary ones in favor of distinguishing things like fowl and foul.

Add to that the mixing of 'there' and 'their.' 'To' and 'too'.

And who came up with 'yuge'?

Like a "boot" ?
A "boot" is not on an automobile
I have a pair on my feet .
And , if one look close enough , I can show one a boot beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Definition straightener outter right there , I tell ya
Eye opener

I don't think that particular batch of confusions is peculiarly American.
It was as a mature student at London University that I was puzzled by the conversation of fellow-students- "My father's a fascist", "Yes, my father's a fascist too"; eventually working out that the word now meant "not-socialist". I assume that "nazi" and "racist" have gone the same way and now mean "someone who disagrees with me".

Though the confusion of socialism and communism is probably more American, because America has had so little real experience of either.

I will always spell 'organiZe' with a 'z' even though I am English.

It is the correct spelling which English writers have got wrong.

I agree on the meanings of words, they need to be clear, but as for grammar and spelling, I don't care really, so long as we can all understand the meaning of the sentence.

Perhaps the world's not such a bad place. It just needs some healing. There's hope still.
