Twitter Bans Far-Right Activist Laura Loomer

Another conservative voice has become a Twitter casualty. Laura Loomer was permanently booted from the platform after a fairly tame tweet (IMO, especially for her).

Loomer said she was banned over a tweet calling newly elected Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress, “anti Jewish.”

For those that cant read the text in the pic, here ya go:
“Isn’t it ironic how the twitter moment used to celebrate ‘women, LGBTQ, and minorities’ is a picture of Ilhan Omar?” Loomer tweeted. “Ilhan is pro Sharia Ilhan is pro-FGM Under Sharia, homosexuals are oppressed & killed. Women are abused & forced to wear the hijab. Ilhan is anti Jewish.”

For those unaware, Loomer is a tad bit more than just a right-leaning activist, investigative journalist, and all around major thorn in the side of anyone on the left. She has several claims to fame but the one that shot her into "stardom"/ "infamy" was when she went to New York, hopped on stage of a production of Julius Caesar, where Caesar was portrayed by a Trump lookalike and yelled, “Stop the normalization of political violence against the right! She is also a major fan of conspiracy theories (she might even be here right now!) and has continued her rise in popularity due to "Loomering" big name Dems. Loomering is where she basically gets in theirs faces and yells at them while videoing it all for social media.

While she is not my favorite person to check on (I may have even unfollowed her, don't remember), I cannot believe that this is the tweet that got her banned. Nobody should have their speech censored. I understand the argument of Twitter being a privately owned company and having the right to not provide service to whoever they deem not up to their standards but calling someone "anti-jewish" is nowhere near as bad as an actual representative of the government threatening nuclear war against millions of its citizens. As of this posting, Rep. Eric Swalwell still has his Twitter account.

Hitler was anti-Jewish too. Imagine if someone wrote ‘nonsense’ like that, they’d be banned right? As per the terms and conditions.

I agree but I also feel that its been shown time and again that there is a pretty large disparity on when the terms and conditions are applied and to whom they are applied. I am all for a company's right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason but don't attempt to hide behind the "rules" when you only apply them to a certain demographic or to get rid of views that are different than your own. Own up to it. Let EVERYONE know that right wing rhetoric and beliefs will not be tolerated. Don't try to hide from it. Let everyone know just what the "rules" are.

It is not that difficult to do. Hobby Lobby and Chick-Fil-A have done it for many years.

They can’t do that because the most ‘right wing’ anti-leftist ideology that has ever existed, is islam. So they can’t discriminate against those lovely people.

(Gay rights, women’s rights, freedom of expression, freedom of association, freedom of religion, equal right for all etc) Not really accepted under a certain ideology. Extreme right-wing is actually an understatement.

It is perfectly fine to ban Conservative voices if you are a Lefty. They see no problem with this because it serves their purpose, however if it was happening to people who spout their agenda we would hear a different tune.

No one is arguing that Twitter has the right to selectively censor people they don’t agree with politically, but it smacks of Facism and is a favorite tactic of Nazis and other authoritarians.

Who of the population uses twitter more, or face book, or youtube? The average citizen or just a few people.

Who is being silenced? Or demonetised, or having things removed. Those who use those mediums to express their opinions or a select few who fail to accept being told when their sentiments are overt.

This is OUTRIGHT censorship, long gone are the days of these things being simply a manner to speak, they are the way we speak. And we're being silenced for not agreeing with the narrative.

We live in the age of social media. And the new age overlords are telling us to fall in, or fall out.

There's no bans on conservatives on Twitter as far as I know. Plenty on Twitter....

It's just that when it comes to "superior race mentality", it's almost always from the mouths of the extreme right... That's why it seems like Twitter has a thing with the "right".

And Twitter did away with technicalities a few years back. The umbrella of free speech has been high jacked... Anything thinks it deserves to be under it.

If you have a Twitter account on the behalf of Twitter, then you agree Twitter does what it wishes.

That's just silly, so the platform is owned by people that lean in a certain political direction, fine don't post there, post somewhere where the owners lean in the same direction you do... Clearly this is where the saying " if you can't handle the fire stay out of the kitchen " comes from.
