Exoplanet discovered around neighbouring star

So we may never find planet X, who cares, here is a planet termed "super Earth" based on its mass (I think), with it being estimated at 3 times that of planet Earth

if it could/does/did habour life would the size of the planet allow for larger nature or is it not as simple as that, or are we still in the realms of, its space anything goes? although it is mentioned it could be as cold as -150c

Who lives in a planet like this?

" who lives on a planet like this " ?

quinn the eskimo ?????????????????????

but in all seriousness - the planets diameter does not affect the potential size of any life forms ther in // on

BUT its gravity well does - ASSUMING that the planet has an identical mean denisty to earth - then its mass will be 25 times greater [ aprox ]

No it's not that simple.

Atmospheric density, gravity and temperature, Play a part in animal and plant life size.

So does whatever the life needs for energy. Here on earth the dinosaurs were giants compared to anything we have today. Why? Because the atmosphere , temperature , oxygen content was different.

The questions are; what kind of atmosphere if any does the "super earth" have. What is the average temperature? What is the ratio of fresh water vs salt vs land mass? What is the gravity like?

For an organism to grow large it needs the right environment in which it is advantageous for it to grow that large.

Many many factors have to fall in place. Not just the mass of the planet.

That's not to say that this planet couldn't harbor extreme large (from our prospective) forms of life.

I believe life does exists in some form other than on earth.

I then have to believe that there are giant forms of life out there somewhere. Forms of life so big that they make our planet look small.

The bigger the planet the harder it will be to reach escape velocity let alone orbital velocity
