The thing about the bill of rights is that they are specifically worded to be inalienable. As in, the government doesn't grant us those rights, we just have them. They can legislate all they want. Nothing short of a war will disarm the American populous.

Statistically there is just no way to really come and take them, surely you know the number of guns in the country! I think you're safe. I used to have lots of guns, and in my state there is no requirement to do any kind of registration. I bought mine from gun shows and private sellers (and inheritance). That means nobody even knows who has guns in my state. Add in the nearly 40 years going on of no action being taken to even try and take yer gunz and you are just pretending to be a victim.

Lets list these:
Too many guns - can't get an exact number but lets say 300-400 million
Many states do not require registration - no database
"gun show clause" - still no database
38 years and counting with no forced seizure (38 years or so since the NRA was taken over by corporate interests after a coup)

Seriously if we can get a congressional congress together for an amendment, we gotta get money out of politics. So, your second is STILL safe.

One of the things that pisses me off about Republicans is that they are afraid to swing for the fences. Instead of ramming through some big ideas while we had control, they dither around the edges. They should have rammed through a flat/fair tax, shut border down, and all kinds of other legislation while the Democrats couldn't do sh*t about it.

On the other hand, Democrats to their credit are not afraid to just force their ideology on the people. If they had control, they would very likely pass some sweeping gun bills and other stuff.

The House can't pass anything... no gun control, no heath insurance, no tax increases... into law without the Senate agreeing, then they need to override Trump's veto. All they will do is either work with the Senate and Trump (unlikely) or show themselves for fools before the American public.

They can't even get a subpoena to stick... maybe they can impeach Trump (doubtful because most of the Democrat newcomers promised their constituents they would work with him) but it won't do anything but tick people off... the Senate has to convict him by a 2/3 supermajority. The same with Kavanaugh.

Since we're being reasonable: I'm sorry for nancy pelosi. She's a really ugly democrat (I'm not talking about her looks). I wish she'd get primaried, but that's a greedy greedy district.

But speaking of reasonable, mass shootings have gotten outta hand. I don't know the answer, but I think we need to investigate.

I'm curious about mao inhibitors and gun ownership. Looks like there are studies linking mao inhibitors to mass shootings, no government investigations on it though. I mean it just kind of fits. Maybe people incapable of feeling remorse shouldn't have (easy?) access to guns? There is a debate there at least.

Like I said, I don't have an answer but this leads to a conversation, then maybe we can come to a consensus, and maybe quantify that consensus in some reasonable manner.

BUT, like you said, all we're going to be doing for the next 2 years is stalling and dragging things out. Don't blame that on pelosi though, it's the only reasonable thing we can do at this point. And we learned it from you (2011-2016) dad!

They won't. Before snipes, broward had the same problems. It's systemic corruption in that county. I used to be an optimist but I've become very cynical over the last 6 months. Here's why:
Immigration: >60/40 in favor of stopping illegal immigration
Abortion: >60/40 in favor of strictly limiting
Economy: Republicans more trusted by 10 points
Guns: ~60/40 against assault weapons bans
Voter ID: ~80/20 for voter ID
Taxes: >90% Currently About right or too high

Those are usually the vast majority of the top issues in every election (not in that order). They heavily favor republican positions.
So either:
A) There is systemic voter fraud
OR
B) People are being manipulated to vote against their stated beliefs by the media

We are either in a post democratic society or a post logic society. The writing is on the wall in either case.

You missed the second option.

I used to believe it was that option and that we could overcome it and wake people up. But then the election happened. Against a backdrop of two years of assaults and harassment of republicans. Democrat officials calling for harassment and incivility (not just fringe dems either). The dirtiest confirmation hearing process I've ever witnessed and by most reports people saw right through it.

That's the backdrop. Plus republicans held the enthusiasm advantage going into the election. They held the early voting advantage (at least in comparison to 2016 and 2014) in most swing states. Yet the ballots got cast (or fraudulently counted) and the dems picked up 35+ house seats (understandable given the map). The republicans looked like they were going to offset the damage with big senate gains of +4-6 seats (understandable given the map).

But as days went by democrat ballots began trickling in, flipping multiple senate seats. Now republicans will be +2. Deep red montana which trump won by 21 points (romney only won by 13), elected a dem senator. Arizona elected a dem who hates their constituents and thinks people ought to be allowed to join the taliban with no consequences. Dems re-elected a corrupt senator in Bob Menendez. Then there's the fraud in broward. You dig deeper into the numbers in arizona and montana and things start to get weird. Not necessarily impossible, but well into the improbable territory.

But I'll pull back, it doesn't matter if it's fraud or actual people voting for these politicians. The country is done. It was a good run. I'm predicting full societal collapse by the mid 2020's unless some sort of mass awakening happens.

May as well add my 2020 prediction: Trump will lose to the democrat (likely some flavor of socialist). The senate will flip. The globalist cabal will go pedal to the metal.

House Democrats Plan ‘Aggressive’ Gun Control Push As Soon As They Regain Control

House Democrats are planning an “aggressive” push to greatly expand gun control as soon as they take control of the House of Representatives in January, the Washington Examiner reports.

After a shooting at a California bar last week that claimed a dozen lives, Democrats have decided to shift (briefly) away from prioritizing several investigations into the Trump administration and President Donald Trump, and focus instead on passing strict gun control measures, including universal background checks, a national ban on “high capacity magazines,” a ban on “assault-style” weapons, and a provision that would allow law enforcement to temporarily confiscate weapons from individuals deemed a threat to themselves or others.

Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) told The Wall Street Journal last week that he intends to immediately push for the universal background check legislation which would require gun retailers and gun sellers to register all gun purchases through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The effort would close what Democrats call the “gun show loophole,” which they believe allows individuals to purchase guns in private transactions — at gun shows and elsewhere — without registering their firearms with any state or federal body.
