Surely this, if true, is a bigger deal than russian facebook trolls

It is a bigger deal.

Remember what Lincoln said.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

In Broward County, Miramar Elementary School teacher Lakeisha Sorey came across a box labeled “Provisional ballots” left behind at the school from Election Day & she’s concerned it might have votes. She didn’t look in the box because she didn’t want to tamper with it

The amount of corruption or incompetence adding up is surreal!

This isn't just a Florida thing, imo. Record numbers of dead people have miraculously voted for democrats over the years.

Tons of dead people voted against Ron Paul in 2012. It seems dead people have a lot of sway in the USA!

It looks like Democrat leaders in Florida are corrupt and dirty to the core. People are nothing but numbers to them.

Accusing Democrats of a coordinated effort to "steal the election," Republican Senate candidate Rick Scott filed explosive lawsuits late Thursday against the top election officials in two heavily Democratic counties, charging they are illegally refusing to provide any information about the number of ballots cast or counted there.

The bombshell litigation comes hours after Florida GOP Sen. Marco Rubio, in an extraordinary series of tweets that alleged incompetence if not outright complicity by Florida officials, charged that Democratic lawyers were "descending on" the state in a calculated attempt to "change the results" and "try and steal" races for Senate and agriculture commissioner.

A recount now appears imminent not only in Scott's race, but also in the agricultural commissioner race and Florida's high-profile gubernatorial contest between Democrat Andrew Gillum and Republican Ron DeSantis, based on new vote totals -- even though Gillum has already conceded.

How do you know that it wasn't Republicans who tried to vote 108 extra times and not some guy in a van full of stickers?

With how close this vote may end up being, if they already caught 100 illegal votes, how many skipped thru?

If you check out Doug Hanks's Twitter feed, it's pretty informative.

Looks like there were 971 provisional ballots cast in Miami-Dade out of about 800k votes cast (about .12%). In the case of the 108 rejected provisional ballots (.013% of votes cast) the people appear to have attempted to vote in person multiple times. (no word on if it's 108 different people who apparently tried to vote twice or not)

Anyway, I'm not sure that it's an issue of "skipped through" here. They were caught trying to vote more than once, in person, and that's why they had to cast provisional ballots. The provisional ballots were rejected.

So the process worked?

It did work in this instance it seems.

However, its proof hundreds of people were trying to commit fraud.

How many more people tried and succeeded, or did it in other ways?

And now we see loads of sheningans in broward ion top of this.

Again, many people scoff at the idea election fraud is serious.

It looks like we are seeing it in real time.

Yeah we'll have to see what's going on in Broward. Is anyone actually surprised that there are issues with voting in Florida? (Thanks Rick!) I'm not taking anything Rick Scott says at face value, particularly in this situation. Let's not forget that he's literally one of the biggest crooks in America. He presided over the bilking of billions from the American tax payer through fraudulent billing, and left his company the week the DOJ opened it's investigation and his underlings took the fall.

But yeah, somebody needs to look into what's happening there. If there's any validity to his complaint, it needs to be investigated. In fact, I think with it as close as it is, we're looking at a hand recount automatically under Florida law so expect this to get all kinds of attention.

Very fair post.

Fraud is fraud, I dont care what side does it. It needs to be taken seriously.

But doesnt this show why things like voter id are just a racist scam, because many people will cheat if they can

South Florida voting issues go back long before Scott.

Scott is a crook and should be going to jail, but this particular problem is systemic in Broward county area.

Maybe. We know it's 108 provisional ballots but we don't know how many people were responsible for them nor do we know how many will actually be borne out as fraud ultimately. Hopefully there's follow up reporting on this.

How many more people tried and succeeded, or did it in other ways?

I don't know. There's no information for us to do anything but speculate and no way of proving any speculation. It appears that 108 times poll workers were doing their jobs and made the voter fill out a provisional ballot and 108 times the counters rejected those on the basis that the people had voted more than once. So that would apparently be 108 times the system worked. It's impossible to extrapolate how many times it might not have worked from that.

And btw, Florida requires photo ID with matching signature.

And now we see loads of sheningans in broward ion top of this.

We have allegations of shenanigans. There are several districts where they are still counting votes nationwide. In Arizona for instance, in Maricopa county they apparently still have more than 100,000 mail in ballots to be counted. Right now Synema and McSally are falling in and out of lead as batches are being reported.

Similarly, the ballots that they were counting in Broward were mail in. It shouldn't be exceedingly hard to sort this out. There's probably going to be hand recount. All of those mail in ballots should all postmarked. Are there not Republican counters? From what I remember of the 2000 debacle, they paired people off in pairs of Rep/Dem or something.

Again, many people scoff at the idea election fraud is serious.

It looks like we are seeing it in real time.

Or we're not. Or it's being drastically overblown for political purposes and lots of horses are being put in front of carts. Don't get me wrong, I don't fault you for being alarmed and I'm definitely all for getting to the bottom of this. I'm just not ready to get all riled up. And if there ends up being 108 confirmed instances of attempted fraud out of 800k votes or whatever, that's a very tiny percentage — 0.013% is minuscule — you're talking possibly 99.987% who did not attempted fraudulent. For perspective, that would be an incidence of 13 per 100,000. In Miami the murder rate last year was 12.2 per 100,000 and the rate for car theft was 444.1 in 100,000.

It's like mass shootings. You're never going to stop it all, let alone stop people from even trying, but we have to keep the risk in perspective and not get all irrational and start demanding "somebody do something" when the actual risk is ridiculously small.
