...and speaking of Canadians illegally working, I nearly did it, overstay tourist visa, set up some self employed construction/maintenance gig, health issues foiled my plans, no NHS like in the UK so here I stay.

The area this migrant group is headed for has that fence and a strong Border Patrol presence. They are headed for a strongly secured area of the southern border.

You're hearing LOTS of hyped Political Propaganda regarding these asylum seekers.

There are areas on the border that are still not secured. This is not one of them.

I have a couple things to add. I was telling everyone during obamas beginning of second term that he wouldnt impliment martial law it would be the next president on his first term to deploy the first military. I came to that conclusion from the laws & preconditioning of civilian minds & the bible said so.

They can not deploy without the consent of congress, I do not care if a president thinks they have alpha & omega power over us, it will not hopefully happen. There is no 'loophole' for deploying troops on our border without complete invasion. If this does happen without congressional consent it is the closest thing you can do to tyrrany as president in any age. If congress does agree, our laws are about to be twisted horribly against american citizens.

If the military deploy on domestic soil without congressional approval, I will stand against tyrrany & to the soldiers I am grateful & very much appreciate what you all do, I am not on your side of a tyrranical history if you do this. Noone should allow this to happen, not even goverment employees. People have to say no to this, I like a lot of what trump does, this is not legal & will have serious consequences from all walks of americans.

Do not let tyranny rule, stop u.s forces from illegally operating on u.s soil at whatever legal cost, because if we do not now, our near future is complete tyrrany & exactly what our decloration told us to to abhore & dismantle. Follow our decloration & constitution or forevor be on the wrong side of history. Fight for your freedom of democracy & not tyrrany. Do not spread hate or violence, do not run from our constitution & decloration when they take the first shot.

If standing up for our decloration & constituion is illegal just delete this post cause i do not know the crazy world laws we are living in anymore so sorry i can not keep track of laws well.

If some of the asylum seekers are headed to areas with a strong border patrol presence, then it confirms what I have heard and read.

They are told to find a border official immediately upon entering the country and declare that you are seeking asylum. You will be processed, and given a date to return for a hearing.

Most do not return for the hearing, because 93% of asylum seekers are turned down and returned home. That's how they get in.

If the border is closed, or, at the least, controlled (that's my preference), then it shouldn't escalate, should it?

I've several friends who've lived their entire lives just a short walk from the border--both sides of it--and I've been, back in the day, across the border several times without issue, except for that old man and his evil tempered peppers, and it's become extremely dangerous in places

Much as we could wish it otherwise, those days of just crossing back and forth are gone--likely never to return.

The situation for many on the border, you yourself mentioned it, is not good, in many places. Part of solving that, is controlling entry and egress to and from.

It's a tricky one (speaking Constitutionally)

They have no legal grounds to seek asylum. And most of what they said they were seeking was offered by Mexico. If that was truly what they actually wanted, they wouldn't be continuing.
