Well, this might be why it's taking so long to have the Spygate documents declassified, even though President Trump ordered "immediate" declassification, back on 9/21/2018. The Department of Justice says the Carter Page FISA Spy Warrant application is being used by Special Counsel Bob Mueller, as part of his probe into 2016 Presidential election tampering.

In court filings last week, the Department of Justice deployed what could be the nuclear option in its latest effort to prevent President Trump from declassifying information regarding FISA warrants used to spy on his campaign aide Carter Page: It is claiming that such a move would interfere with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

In the 178-page court document, DOJ officials said they had “determined that disclosure of redacted information in the Carter Page FISA documents could reasonably be expected to interfere with the pending investigation into Russian election interference."

That rationale has heightened suspicions among congressional investigators that the special counsel is being used to prevent the disclosure of possible FBI abuses and crimes committed during the Russia probe.

Opened by the FBI in July 2016, the Russia investigation was taken over by Mueller when Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed him special counsel in May of 2017.
MORE at: www.realclearinvestigations.com...

I believe Rod Rosenstein (Bob Mueller's boss) told President Trump that Bob Mueller is using the Carter Page FISA application as EVIDENCE. But evidence against whom? President Trump says that Rod Rosenstein is a "good guy" now... that they're working well together. Maybe Mueller is investigating how Strzok, McCabe, Hillary Clinton, and other Obama-era officials attempted to interfere in the 2016 election.

But on the other hand, Rod Rosenstein was one of the signers/approvers of at least 2 of the FISA warrants the FBI used to spy on the Trump campaign, and Donald Trump himself, after America elected him President. Also Rod Rosenstein (March 2017) wanted to TRAP President Trump into saying something that would enable Congress to have him removed from office, under "Amendment 25" of the U.S. Constitution.

Lastly, Rod Rosenstein was scheduled to be questioned by Congressional Investigators about his alleged attempt to have President Trump removed from office under the 25th Amendment. Rosenstein didn't show up the first time. When he finally did agree to be questioned, on 10/24/18, the Congressional Committee leader (Bob Goodlatte) abruptly cancelled the interview, the night before!

Is Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein a Trump administration GOOD GUY, or a BAD GUY? What do those of you who have been following this think?

This is stupid.

It's been 2 years and all they got are 12 Russians posting memes on the Crapbook.

Release the damn docs and let the sheeple see for themselves what they paid $50 million for.

Who are the ones in the DOJ resisting the declass? Are there any names named? We should start by there.

If it is being used as evidence, releasing it can cause harm to the case they have against someone. Trump can wait till the FBI is done, but I sure wish that this investigation Mueller is doing would get over all ready, what they originally were looking for with collusion has not been found so far. Nothing illegal was done, all charges tend to be for pre-trump activities or personal corruption of some of the people in politics. It is being made into a Hollywood style movie script.

If President Trump were easily intimidated like many past Presidents, I would agree with you, ViniFalou. But in this case, I believe (and hope!) he has good reasons for not pressing to have the documents declassified.

Anyway, it's encouraging to know that Bob Mueller is using the FISA spy warrant in his Russia Interference/Collusion investigation. Just from what we know, the warrant implicates top Obama Admin officials.

The core aspect (Trump Russia Collusion and/or Obstruction) of Mueller's probe is complete. He's just waiting until after the election to release the results/report.

"The DOJ says"? They can "charge" their boss with...? Really? Lol! America is going to legalize and lawyer itself, out of existing.
OP? Who does the DOJ work for? It's an Executive branch. It is not rocket "science" or "legal sorcery". What are the employees going to do? Fire the boss? I understand liberals think that's how it should be.
Liberals obviously do not understand "civics", "civility", or the laws of our Republic, (that
being), The Constitution of The United States...

No, they think we're a "Democracy".
I hope Pres. Trump does! Just to get the ball rolling.

So in your opinion, Bob Mueller can not charge President Trump (his boss), with Obstruction of Justice, if President Trump forces declassification of the Spygate documents, which includes the FISA warrant?

I think that such a decision would end up in the SCOTUS.

How convenient. With the new justice and stuff.

Clever attempt though.

Based upon the pattern of the DoJ corruption and their own "obstruction" in releasing documents per the law, means that this latest bit is the same thing again, and it's them using these tactics to shield themselves from exposure. Sessions has to also be a part of this. Rosenstien is bad, Sessions is bad. They're all bad. They need old sparky fired up again and brought out of mothballs.

Determining if the President committed Obstruction, by declassifying documents used in an ongoing investigation, would be cut-n-dry GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY based on written law, wouldn't it?

Are you serious? The president can be impeached. Yes.
Can he be tried?

Are you serious? No trial necessary?

If it comes that, we'll see then.

The president can be impeached. If Congress so decrees. Any "deal" has no bearing on that.

Can he be charged by the Special Counsel? That would be a question for the SCOTUS. Can he be tried?

Nice try.

I hope President Trump waits until Mueller wraps things up before poking the FISA declassification bear again. Congress already moves at a snail's pace. If there is a Congress-Trump-Mueller-SCOTUS battle, the government would be paralyzed for many months, imo.

So what if Pres. Trump did? How does that effect YOU? Are you and Mueller fishing buddy's? Think it would change things much?
That said, I don't think me and you have the same understanding of "justice".
If the DOJ had the "truth", "blind justice"..and other "legal" blah, blah and blah. So what? Why hide the truth?
Pres. Trump doesn't have to "force" anything. He's the boss, pure and simple. Who does Mueller work for again? What's wrong with "Declassification" again?

You'd think that the democratic , lib, commie, socialist would embrace a President that wanted to be open about things. Apparently not.

The President will release the unredacted file when he is good and ready too.

The delay in release is caused by the Deep State fighting back. The fake bombs being one such maneuver.

The big question here is who's side is Mueller on. Consider if he is Deep State, he has next to nothing as has been shown. The best he has done so far is too indict a few Russians who ... fought back making him look like a dummy.

This would just about end Mueller's career.

I suggest that Mueller is on the right side and this is a dog and pony show ... and a honey pot operation ... by the good guys.

Time will tell, but seriously, no one is truly this inept, not with their career hanging in the balance.

When Mueller starts with the real work, we will see lots of indictments ... probably already sealed by a Grand Jury.

To do this, Mueller would have to run an operation that is heavily compartmentalized, quite the operation if this is the reality.

Not long to wait for the answers.

I am wondering, after the midterms, if many in Congress will be taken down. Quite the operation!
