The Record of Decision has been filed, formalizing the assignment of 3 F-35A squadrons to Tyndall AFB.

Cool, I'm moving to Panama City in three months. I'm tired of GP, was hoping for Hawaii, but, it is what it is, I guess...

I was stationed at Tyndall for my F-15 maintenance "hot" training.

Sucks to hear about this.

Oh, didn't realize this was an old thread, ha!

They've still got a road ahead of them. They're still getting rebuilt, and have all the upgrades to do. They won't see their first F-35 for over two years, because they have to get the infrastructure built.

Do they still have F15's there?

No. The 1st FS was deactivated in 2006, and the 2nd and 95th in 2010. The 95th was reactivated in 2013 as an F-22 unit. They had F-22s until the storm hit, then all their combat coded jets went to Langley, Elmendorf, and Hickam. The non-combat coded jets are at Eglin, and occasionally Tyndall. They sent some F-15s to Oregon, which became the primary F-15 training location. Tyndall was the primary F-22 pilot training site.

Were they able to get the 22's out of there before the storm hit or did they moor them down?

They had 17 in non-flyable condition. All suffered damage, but were repaired.
