USGS fudging Magnitudes of EQ's M6.? reported as 5.9 Hati 12 dead 188 injured

look at how many 6.0+ mag's registered on instruments under the station details it registered all the way to a Mag 7 !! But being reported as 5.9 ???

Watch the clintons start licking their chops now to get their hands on more government money to embezzle. The did it once in Haiti and they will try it again.

They are not fudging anything? Why would you say that? I'd suggest you do some homework about earthquakes and how the final magnitude reported is reached. Not everything is a conspiracy and this case it's clearly a case of you not knowing the topic. There is not even a logical reason they would "fudge" the magnitude. Also be aware that may change after they have time to assess it further.

Initial estimates and they are estimates, are often adjusted after review and it can take a bit before the actual magnitude is known. You can't go by raw data.

A 5.9 is moderate and would not damage any buildings in most places due to adequate building codes. The problems there are due to the inferior way they construct their buildings. Even so it looks like not a lot of damage anyway.

So you don't believe the USGS manipulates it's final assessment? Take a good look at the station details do a complete average of reported magnitudes according to the calibrated instruments and see what you come up with IN ALL CASES the final report put out to the public by the USGS IS well UNDER the average of calibrated instruments.

Depending on where a sensor is located, where the earthquake took place and how the surrounding rock reflects and refracts the shockwaves, it can appear to be stronger or weaker than it actually is. But from every earthquake they can use geophysical tomography to reconstruct the structure of the fault lines and rock layers.

Ok take a look at Oregon the reported EQ's up there, look at the adjoining State lines and see where the EQ'S STOP right at the state lines??? oh wow i didn't know eq's respected STATE boundary lines.....

It's become a political thing and not a science thing. Look at other reporting entity's EMSC VS USGS there's a distinct difference in reported magnitude values ... look it up I've seen it numerous times on a Global scale. Just calling this one out in one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere.

Just because you don't understand it does not mean it's a conspiracy. Magnitudes can and do change, even after hours or days. I gave you a link to a page with good information if you take the time to understand it.

Again you fail to give a reason why you think they would do that? It's a "political thing" is not a reason.

How do you figure they would hide this from what must be tens of thousands of people around the world who understand it all? They all in on it and if so why?

Of course , it is a CHART after all . And , it is assumed , if the magnitude is very low or non-existent in the adjoining State ......
