Democrats say Avenatti undercut their case against Kavanaugh

(CNN) — Senate Democrats believed they had Brett Kavanaugh on the ropes.

Christine Blasey Ford had just revealed her identity and was prepared to testify in public, detailing her allegations that Kavanaugh had tried to sexual assault her more than three decades ago. On top of that, a New Yorker article had just revealed that a second woman, Deborah Ramirez, was accusing Kavanaugh of exposing his genitals to her while they were college students.

Then came Michael Avenatti.

But the eye-popping nature of those claims suddenly gave Republicans an opportunity to shift the narrative away from Ford's allegations and make a broader case that the growing accusations of sexual misconduct amounted to an orchestrated Democratic smear campaign, something Sen. Susan Collins, the swing GOP vote, cited herself when announcing she'd be the decisive vote to support Kavanaugh's confirmation.

"Democrats and the country would have been better off if Mr. Avenatti spent his time on his Iowa vanity project rather than meddling in Supreme Court fights," a senior Senate Democratic aide fumed, referring to Avenatti toying with the idea of seeking the Democratic presidential nomination. "His involvement set us back, absolutely."

Seems the Democrats are turning on Avenatti; saying that his form of resistance (making up obvious lies) hurt their ability to remove Kavanaugh from the nomination process.

While I don't disagree with them, Avenatti did hurt their offensive, they are missing the forest for the trees. Avenatti is a thing of their creation; their actions over the last two years and longer are what made Avenatti posible. They cant now cry about their own underbelly stinking too much.

I've been tracking this. Yup. Many in the left are trying to distance themselves as much as possible now.

But they'll have a hard time doing that. If you look at his Twitter feed, his supporters think he's the only guy who can defeat Trump. Something about 'fighting fire with fire...and when they go low, you go lower...the stakes are too high' etc.

Michael Avenatti isn’t for the right or the left. He got a taste of the spotlight with stormy and can’t get enough of it. The liberal mainstream media created this problem now they have to deal with it.

They NEVER take responsibility for what they do.

Democrats snipped off A LOT of people last week.

And it's going to come back and bite them in their collective rears come voting day.

He certainly hurt them, but the DNC did more damage to the DNC than any ambulance chasing lawyer could, They handled Ford's accusation wrong pretty much every single step of the way. Throw in all the grandstanding by the DNC in front of the camera declaring guilt before a criminal complaint was made or a single piece of evidence was produced turned a lot of people off.

Seems to me that leadership of the Democratic party and platform is ripe for the picking for a few well spoken, level headed moderate Democrats. The base is surely tired of the clown show, as are we all.

The democlowns are incapable of accountability.

And leadership to them is a foreign concept.

They said he is right all time and was going to bring Kavanaugh down

I and many others said he was a publicity seeking hack who no serious victim would go to, but they insisted we were wrong
