NewsDiffs, which was born out of the Knight Mozilla MIT hackathon in June 2012, is trying to solve the problem of archiving news in the constantly evolving world of online journalism.

We are often presented with reporting that changes over time. It is difficult to ascertain how many revisions have occurred and where exactly in the content the changes were made.

Newsdiffs tries to solve that. It is a great little tool to track changes in online news content and stores them to a Github repository, which allows users to see the revisions and where the exact changes were made.

Here are the changes made just today

As an example, the obituary of Yvonne Brill written by Douglas Martin of the NYT has a curious revision. They changed "She made a mean beef stroganoff" in the original to "She was a brilliant rocket scientist".

Currently they track nytimes.com, cnn.com, politico.com, washingtonpost.com, and bbc.co.uk.
