after watching hours of this # show today. im sure i cant consider myself a democrat

ive always thought of myself as a liberal but these days that dont really fit either

i definitely dont jive with republican or conservative

actually there are probably a few things that i align with and can embrace that would usually be considered liberal views or conservative views.

but the way they all act. especially the big two. the dems/libs and repubs/conservatives kind of disgust me.

so what is an independent to do?

realistically who would an independent vote for that would actually stand a chance?
i mean there was Bernie and we all see what happened with that

so who will there be in 2020?

it really sucks that here in reality we basically get 2 choices

we can vote dem and repub. red or blue.

yeah i know we can go green party or the peace and freedom party but in the end you would be wasting you vote.

so what is a person to do?

i just feel like i am in bizzaro land.

the whole thing stinks. how they all behave. both major parties.

i think anyone being objective would see that.

so what is an independent to do?

thanks

You can always vote Libertarian party. Lotta folks voted for Gary Johnson last POTUS election. Not my cup of tea (Gary Johnson, that is), but it makes a statement. The majority claim they want a change away from the 2 party system, but far too many people are too scared to actually vote for someone other than one of the two parties' candidates.

For what it's worth, I'm very proud of you right now.

ETA: Not all Conservatives have a stick up their ass. Some of us are actually almost cool and have twisted senses of humor, ya know?

Trump. That is the only one that both party leaders can't stand.

Throughout my adult life I've always traditionally leaned to the left, but after seeing how far to the left the left have swung in recent years, I tend to (I hate this term) 'identify' as a centrist.

I agree and disagree with points and policies from both ends of the spectrum.

its a rough spot to be in for people that want to get away from the big two
its one of those deals where you cant really afford to use your vote for one of the minor candidates if the person next to you does not do the same.

its a big risk cause you only get 1 vote so i suspect a lot of people go the what they think is the lesser of two evils route.
hard to blame them

Just register as a Non Party Affiliate. Can’t vote in the primaries but it sends a message to the establishment.

As a former Independent (that crap-show pushed me into the "R" bracket) all I can tell you is...

The Democrats need a purge. Not like the movie, but a whole lot of new faces that don't just cheat to get their way.

Until then, they don't deserve any kind of power.

The smaller parties will continue to be just that.

So what other choice do you have?

At least with this hearing, in my mind, the "R" scumbags bent over backwards to be accommodating.

The "D" people? It was like some kind of contest to see which one could possibly be more disgusting.

An opinion, as always.

Welcome to the club! Get ready for the refreshing feeling of taking a step back from issues and people, running it through your filters, not your parties.

Kudos

They're both almost the same anyways.

We have had disagreements but I always found you reasonable.

I thought you were exactly right with your comments today.

Its a damn shame because we need a robust left leaning party.

But the democrats have gone too far today.

I hope they are wiped out in the next few elections, and a party that cares about workers and personal liberty can thrive

something else that just settled in as well

# the news. all of it
not saying its all fake news but it is all spin news

i watched the hearings off and on at work and then from 4 till they were finished

as i was watching i was bouncing back and forth between huffington and fox news. just checking headlines and pictures associated with.

fox and huffington were both pushing stories that were damn near polar opposite each other and neither one of them were pushing what exactly was happening.
it was pretty disgusting.

it is clear you have to see and hear things for yourself. with some context and for more than just 15 seconds

it was very evident and very disgusting

we are all getting played

and holy # if you get your news from a twitter feed or a facebook blurb.
youre really screwed

so along with lying asshole politicians we get lying asshole spinning news. on both sides.

we are all being played. just depends on who is playing us

I didn't say anything about a pissing match.

You asked who should you vote for and I gave you my honest opinion. Since Trump has been President, love him or hate him, we have been given more transparency to the idiocracy of our political leaders in the house, senate, alphabet agencies, and the media. That is just the truth. I kind of like that, so for me, Trump is the obvious choice.

i hope they are both wiped out.

this hearing really got me thinking about my daughter and her generation.
they are looking at big problems.

i feel bad for young people that actually have a future.
im 40 years old man. im on the grind in a foundry and i will be until im dead. ive come to terms with that.

but what for my kid you know?

what do i tell her?

go to college and get a degree? # that. so she can accrue all this debt and if she is lucky enough to get a good job be stuck paying that # off for decades.
if she does go for what?

if she says she wants to aspire to some political goal or law/judge type thing. wants to serve. wants to do good.
how am i supposed to support her and encourage her to do that when the system sucks.

aspire to do great things and be great?
so people on the other 'side' can screw you any way they can??

really sucks man

today was a major bummer

I have been voting Libertarian for a few years.

Don't care if my vote doesn't count, or as I have been accused of, you voted for the other party because of that.

Really, if more people jump ship, we can get away from this political bi-partisan bull#.

Research it, you might like what you see and stop being part of the problem.

Hi.

I am 53 years old .
I have been an elevator union worker for 31 years.
Before that, I worked my way through college, getting an associates degree in electronics.
Worked on video games at arcades before working on elevators.
I still love it with 5 years till retirement.

My daughter just turned 20.
She lives on the beach, works 5 days a week and goes to school 2 days a week.
She is working towards an art therapy degree because she is a great artist.

To make things great, you have to work for it.
My parents taught me to be independent. Take no hand outs.
At 18 years old, after graduating high school, my dad point blank told me I had to go. Whether it was the military, college, or what ever, I was not staying there any more.

And I did and succeeded !

Much like the momma bird to the chick, go fly away young one and build your own life.

Support your daughter in what ever she feels driven towards.

All this political bull crap doesn't really matter. Focus on real life.

so what is an independent to do?

Why are you asking ?
You just answered your own question within that question.
If you go Independent , for gosh sake , you are an Independent
Check the voting regulations in your State
Some have the regulation what you register as is how you vote.
