Arguing with my trainer yesterday.

But is it true to say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger?

So I say, what of somebody, steps on a land-mine.
Without legs, does it still apply?

Yes, because in their mind they become stronger.

He believes it, I say it is a fallacy.

Who is right?

There are many different kinds of strength.

So I guess it depends on exactly what you mean when you think of being strong.

Mental strength greatly outweighs physical strength.

Our bodies naturally degrade over time anyway, but there is no limitation to how far you can take your mind.

So in essence, you are incorrect.

That saying can be awesome for motivation purposes... but its a total BS misnomer.

I could write a entire book, with all the things that won't kill you, but will make you much weaker.

The Honey Badger is always right..........It will kill you because it doesn't care.

I am a survivor. But not from war or losing body parts.

I am a survivor from my ex, how put me in jail for a few weeks because of false accusations of abuse. She made me homeless, carless and jobless.

Lived in the woods for 6 weeks, got back on my feet, with help, got a truck, a job and an apartment.

The last 4 years have been a struggle, but with everyday and a positive outlook, it improves.

The mind , your mentality, is a strong force that can over come many things.

If it were true, My sorry backside could lift buildings. Instead, my body is shot to hell- I have food allergies, diabetes, stress related digestive problems, a bad back, and anxiety which likes to come out at bad times and drag my blood sugar to the depths.

BTW- John Wayne said that, and he died of cancer after filming on radioactive sand dunes...

But , as Mr. Krab tells Spongebob and Patrick -
"What dont kill you....(long pause) will do so eventually"

Dad had 2 favorite sayings
"What don't kill you will only make you stronger"
and
"If you can walk away from it , it wasn't that bad"

Money. Enough money and you forget how to do things for yourself; however, too much and you run the risk of dying for it.

Eh, its not that bad of on but I catch your point. I actually do believe this one in most circumstances baring a few terrible exceptions.

Anyways, my favorite one of these misnomers is "everything happens for a reason." That one is truly cruel. Tell that to the starving kid who is born in Africa, has his family pillaged and murdered, and is then recruited into a rebel army.

Good luck

If that # happens for a reason, # whomever is in charge up there.

It's a tough one. Sometimes I think the things that make you stronger also kind of warp you a bit. All damage takes a toll.

It's possible that you make it through something but just aren't the same after. Sure, you're stronger and tougher but you're also less trusting, more paranoid, less happy.

But then again, no one ever got a contract at birth promising a lifetime of bliss so...

Only metaphorically, but in the kingdom of the blind, its said the one eyed man is to be king.

I use that exact same answer. That being said, if a crazy series of events hadn't taken place that seemingly had no connection, my amazing little girl wouldn't be here today.

It's because of that that I believe only some things happen for a reason. The rest is mindless waste, not unlike watching an AI learn to play a game IMO.

What doesn't kill you gives you unhealthy coping mechanisms and a dark sense of humor.

I don't know why everyone seems to believe this now. 10 - 15 years ago almost no one said it. Then, it was on every TV show, now, they all believe it. It's nonsense. What doesn't kill you only makes you sick.

Yeah, if we become a totally agrarian society ... a socialist farmer society.
No other expectations.
I guess it could work that way.

Like I said - There are many kinds of strength. Physical is just one kind.

If you come out of a car wreck a quadriplegic, you've just been physically neutered, so what else? DId it break your spirit? Are you "dead"? Or do you adapt and rise to the new challenges in your life?

How mentally strong are you? How mentally and spiritually strong will be become if you aren't already?

Might depend on how close to death you came. It can mean that or just simply hitting zero and finding a way to bounce back.

I used to think it was BS until a certain experience. Now I know it is true. I’m not going to give my story.. it’s only understandable to me.
