We have so little effective help from our government that we have to rely on the largesse of the super-wealthy.

I am telling you -- this guy is not paying enough taxes.

www.scmp.com...

On the other hand, if he DID pay his fair share of taxes, the government would probably squander it.

So I guess I will give him a pass today on this.

Thanks Mr. Bezos for donating 1.3% of your fortune to alleviate suffering.

The average worker who has their tax taken at source, and just about manages

who donates £10 or £20 to some charity of choice is probably donating a larger

percentage of their income than that!

So once the politicians™ take their cut out of the original $2B and then lining their friends' businesses for the building of same, then the schools should have about $3M and if it is anywhere in the South, especially Texas that means a new $3M football stadium for the High School...

Don't get Me wrong, I appreciate the philanthropic gesture...

All the money of all ATSers doesn't amount to 2 billion let alone one person

True. So please explain to me why we should be complaining about one man deciding to do what all of us could not?

And when the money runs out then what ?

What pays for those preschools upkeep and salaries, and everything else.

Homeless for a bout a minute.

Then everyone is back to where they were.

Don't know why people think throwing money at problems 'fixes' them.

Because it doesn't.

If he could slip me a few hundred grand, I'm sure nobody would notice and it would sure help my outlook on life. And isn't that enough?

seriously, you obviously dont know squat about making or sustaining money. Seriously, all of your arguments in any thread ...are op eds.

perhaps try extroversion as it implies thinking in regards other than your 1st person paradigm.

No reason to bust his balls over this? Sure he's doing a good deed; and good for him for doing it.

Lets not let this drop in the bucket blind us to the fact that these corporations need to be doing a lot more than this if we ever hope to see a better world.

By then, he will have bought a few politicians that sit on just the right committees, and the taxpayers will then start picking up the tab via the government grant process. You know how it works.

But, maybe he will pour his own money back into it. Or, it could become another corrupt foundation.

You got the wrong idea. I've written many ops slamming Bezos.

I'm not ignorant and certainly not on his payroll

Try reading something once in a while

my apologies for over stepping. I have watched what that sack of @#$% has done to the industry Ive spent near 26 years in and it prompts vitriol, for a number of reasons unfair to pin on you.

Again...I was out of line

His employees that are relying on food stamps should come first. Then his local area who has more homeless per capita than same sized cities. As there's the said direct relation to Amazon's presence and the homeless population. Though, it doesn't mean the local Amazon HQ government can handle or want to handle the money properly if having a heavy hand in it.
