FBI Special Agent Katie Rowbotham testified that Jordan called 911 from the home the day before, complaining of chest pain and suicidal thoughts.-

-when he realized officers were at the home, he told paramedics there was " stuff in there of mass destruction." Rowbotham says Jordan admitted to making ricin, telling police he used certain ingredients and a blender to make two masons jars of the ricin mix. That night, LRPD found the jars, a manila envelope, and some paperwork. Samples from the blender tested positive for ricin as well.
According to authorities, agents also recovered an Amazon.com receipt for ingredients used to make ricin and paperwork that appeared to be a shopping list and instructions for ricin production.

Well it appears that a Hot Springs man got himself in some hot water playing Breaking Bad, he decided to make some Ricin, in interviews he claimed it was to attempt suicide but that doesn't compute for me I will add in some more articles and links but this kid was not just making a one time shot dosage. Apparently he had up to 2 mason jars full of Ricin! Gotta love the south and our resourceful use of mason jars!

So lesson how about don't by your nefarious supplies from amazon and leave receipts laying around and never freak out thinking you consumed some and call 911.
The news is a bit old but the case is still ongoing and I thought it'd be worth a share for you fine folks.

Sorry to preemptively take the wind out your sails, I left the “only in Arkansas” open as low hanging fruit though! Lol

He drew a whole lotta attention for being such an idiot, even had elements from AR NG WMD 61st CST come down all the way from their base in Fayetteville a good 3-4 hour drive. So I have a feeling he had all kinds of moon suited guys crawling around his place of residence. I don’t see making that much ricin to try to kill yourself and then calling 911 when you think you were exposed, truly special stuffs.

i'm not even sure if he were a lightbulb, he would be bright enough to light a refrigerator during the day.

seriously he is claiming that he made two mason jars worth to commit suicide. and yet called 9-11 about chest pains and suicidal thoughts (presumably thinking he had accidently dosed himself)?

Yeah doesn’t make any sense, my brother keyed me onto this story but the way he heard it dude had made more like 6 mason jars worth and was showing off to friends that turned a dime on him, I figured it would have had to be news worthy and the truth while less spectacular was even funnier than the grapevine version. I think it’s mixed reports the guy made statements that it was just to try it and then the suicide talk came in, don’t know if it’s spin or not but seems like a lot of work to off yourself.

ETA- I’d love for the 911 tape and transcript to be released publicly I’m sure the dispatcher was a little confused at first!
Well that was a fail I guess I hit reply instead of edit!

Is it bad that I have no idea what "Breaking Bad" means in relation to this story? I understand that it's (I think) a TV show and that's all I know about it. That's how not with the times I guess I am.

So I have to ask. Was he in some way inspired to do this foolishness by a TV show or was that just a reference to a TV show thrown in to spice up the post?

Yes it was from the hit AMC show Breaking Bad that inspired him to look into how to make ricin at home but the jokes would have come in either way.

The scary part is that he was only caught when he called the police on himself. I’d have figured ordering the ingredients on amazon would raise some red flags.

There could be thousands of idiots out there that will do/ have done this same thing. Just sitting on mason jars of ricin waiting for that one thing to push them over the edge.

I don’t think buying castor beans alone should necessarily automatically trigger any red flags now if you ordered all the supplies from one location then yeah flags should go up. It is a scary thought but the sheer amount of household products that can be put to nefarious uses is always there, if someone is determined to do something they’ll find a way one way or the other. Out here you don’t get many people making ricin but an insane amount of kids blowing off improvised pipe bombs and the like. Had a neighbor set off one and the end cap landed on my property about a 1/4 mile away.

IMO, this is what is happening with mass shootings. Every time it's on TV, in the news or everyone is talking about it, there's some fool who isn't too bright and is mad at the world getting ideas. I don't know what the solution to that is but it seems like the media would understand the impact they have on people.

My guess is he was making it to sell, possibly already having a buyer lined up.
Some people will do anything for money these days, and you probably don't have to look any further than the internet to find them.

Or he could have an evil ex-wife he wanted to off by making it look like a terrorist attack.

I’m not sure about that I doubt he would be looking to sell it, I think he got X quantity of castor beans had no other use for it so decided he might as well use it all.

PS Get outta here ya silly LSU fan....
