Democrats ran attack ad in Tucson congressional race during John McCain's memorial

Stay classy Democrats....this is your "high road"?

A group aligned with Democrats ran an attack ad in Tucson on Thursday as Sen. John McCain's motorcade was taking him to his memorial, a move that rankled Republicans who anticipated a momentary political cease-fire.

The ad targeted Lea Marquez Peterson, who won the Republican primary Tuesday, and her support for the tax cut legislation President Donald Trump signed into law in December. Marquez Peterson is facing Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick, a three-term congressional veteran running in a new district for her.

"This is a new low. Ann Kirkpatrick should be ashamed of herself for allowing Nancy Pelosi’s henchmen to cheapen this day for her benefit," said Jack Pandol, a spokesman for the organization.

Kirkpatrick's campaign declined to comment Thursday. On Wednesday, her campaign had noted it was suspending its ads in response to McCain's death.

But, they "made it right", after the fact.

"Senator McCain is lying in state at Arizona's Capitol. Out of respect for him and his family, I've instructed my campaign to stop our campaign ads," Kirkpatrick said. "Roger and I are keeping the McCain family in our thoughts and prayers."

Typical of someone that is more ensconced in party politics than in memorializing a fellow congressman and military veteran.

Politics and career politicians just plain don't think unless told what to think by the party.

Yes, it is not very classy to run attack ads on a person running for office in the same state that a recently deceased congressman from that district is being honored and during his funeral procession.

Your whataboutism attempt is obvious deflection.

If ANY party did that, I would say the same. In this case, it was the Democratic party.

Not classy at all, especially when using lack of class on the other side as fuel. Hypocrisy.

And if anyone says this is not the DNC but a group associated with the DNC -- same thing. Had it been a group associated with the Republicans for a KKK rally or whatever, rest assured it would be presented as Republicans.

Here is to show more hypocrisy. It's rampant on both sides, people just need to open their eyes and see it. Wouldn't have posted this otherwise, but this thread is perfect for it.

So..was the ad purchased to run during the motorcade specifically, or is it what it sounds like and they had already purchased the pre-determined slot in airtime and it just happened to come on while the news was covering McCain's motorcade? Its not like they can see the motorcade moving, call up each station and have the ad pulled within minutes. It might be on the news station itself to not pull ads that may be political during a breaking news event and refund them later.

I can virtually gurantee that from now until November if there is any major breaking news event that will have extensive coverage, if they go to commercial there will be a political attack ad, probably from both sides.

Much more disrespectful than the posters around here calling McCain a traitor to our country and other things mere minutes/hours after he died.

Should he be respected or not? Make up your minds already.

I did and also went to do a little digging. Both parties ran ads that day. But the GOP is making it seem like they didn’t for the purpose of making the other side look bad. The whole things stinks and makes the US look bad. Our ability to look like poo is beyond comprehension.
