So you dutifully toss that used milk carton and six pack of bud bottles in the green bin do ya. You go home and pat yourself on the back knowing that your t-bone steak packaging is gonna go back to the plastic factory and be used again for the 30th time. Good for green warrior!

Except you would be wrong. Your dirty crap goes to China, and Poland, and other unseen places, to fill in holes in the Earth. I knew it, but just couldn't prove it. Well, here ya go.
Yuppyvilles in the American West...your recycling goes into a hole in China

In fact, a lot of plastics aren't even recyclable...www.bbc.co.uk...

And what doesn't go to China goes to countries like Poland..

It makes you wonder don't it? We are parasites on Earth, just devouring our way through this planet.

Meh, just dump it in the ocean....

Why don't you complain to the Environmental Protection Agency?

Oh Wait! They don't give a crap --

My milk comes from a goat... I eventually recycle the container on the dinner table.

Recycle my beer bottles by brewing my own...

Lots and lots of ways to REALLY recycle.

Sad to hear that there is a big plastic hole in China though. I had often wondered.

S&F for some good information!

I don't have a trash bill. Or an electric bill, or a water bill or a sewage bill.

Like I said... there are lots and LOTS of actual ways to be green and recycle.

Putting your crap on the curb is not one... we avoid plastic like the plague.

Watch Blue Planet 2. We gotta do something. I am not buying anything with black plastic anymore. I know that is racist, but dammit it can't be recycled. I quit buying meat from the supermarket and butcher my own road kill. If you get it fresh it's pretty good still. Racoon and Opossum are not bad if you know how to season it properly.

When will people realize every green scheme is a scam?

Can you please give me a few tips on how to do it the way you do. Keep in mind I live essentially in Vegas but on the outskirts. I also avoid plastic but I do have all the bills you don’t. Kinda sucks TBH

Ahh, just take up residence with the thousands of peeps living in the viaducts, then when the spring rains come it just flushes it out downstream like a big toilet. BAM, outta site, outta mind.

I'm on a couple hundred acres with 2 wells, we have a spring and a river is the border of one side of the property. Sewage is a septic system. Electric is mostly solar with a diesel generator for overload. Heating is wood. Trash for the most part is recycled or burnt... glass goes in the recycle bin, so I'm guilty there. Veggie scraps go to the deer and turkeys and chickens, meat scraps to the farm cats and dogs.

We generate a 39 gallon bag of other crap about 6 times a year... the town dump is free.

We have an orchard and a big garden, so we can a lot. the canning jars get reused so we don't have a lot of tin cans or anything.

Just a life choice.

And no, I am not giving out my address if TSHTF.

The books are better than the show but they still show lots of self sustaining ideas..

I was just being facetious... that is epic. You sound like my grandparents, and now my sister. It takes a lot of acres to sustain ones self that way though. No way could city folk do that, which is why I thank god I was raised a country boy!!!!!
