Thanks for reading Dex! I'm thrilled that folks are enjoying it!

These comparisons - Hitchcock, PKD - really make me feel like I'm onto something. Such a great feeling sharing something that I'm passionate about, like writing, and getting positive feedback.

The immense difference between your words and DB's is that no Gunthers were harmed in the fiction.

I'm glad you pointed that out.

Everyone, rightly, has personal lines that, hell or high water, they will not cross.

"Gunther" is the DMZ of my storytelling Vietnam.

Thanks 727.

By happy accident, I just now realized something neat.

My username is Dictionary of Excuses (obv) and the subtitle of my story, Lots of People Do Far Worse, is an excuse. Perhaps I've stumbled on a fresh spring from which to draw inspiration for storytelling.

I'll admit my bias if you admit I might be correct

No, now youve pointed it out, I'm seeing some Jungian context.

Symbols and spectres? "Things are not always as they seem"?

I'm having trouble with that one.

Maybe I'm not completely privy to the Gunther joke?

No, sort of like a freudan slip but Jungian is non sexual, so subconcious transference of main character in your text and yourself - the excuses thing lol

Oh totally. My mind was still on Gunther.

Crazy how the mind works, and where it takes us when we treat it like a river instead of a pond.

lol I just read it again and caught all these little mistakes: "That's all not I was relieved about", etc.

Haste: the real killer

ETA - Perhaps dyslexia in a dish in.

Thanks for reading Bally!

I sat down the other night (morning, heh) at maybe 1:30a and didn't stop writing until I was done at about 11:30a. Believe it or not, it takes a lot out of me, not only the marathon writing session itself, but "channeling" all these dark thoughts and stringing them together...having to go through the thought process of "how could it get worse?"

By the time I'm finished with a yarn like this, I'm ready for some ice cream and cartoons.
