on bad days the health effects of air pollution are comparable to the harm done smoking three packs per day (60 cigarettes) by every man, woman, and child.

“Air pollution is arguably the greatest environmental catastrophe in the world today.”

www.france24.com...

According to this article, air pollution is a greater problem than global warming. Harmful particles from air pollution can enter deep into our lungs and cause strokes, lung cancer, asthma and even trigger heart attacks. When someone breathes 22 micrograms of small particulate matter, it's like you've just smoked one cigarette. Many tourists who travel and visit European cities, don't have a clue on the health implications from just walking the sidewalks. This article states that just spending a weekend in Paris, would be equivalent to smoking two cigarettes. Visiting Prague is much worse, where a worker on a coffee break, would be exposed to the toxic equivalent of inhaling four cigarettes! I now understand why so many people in Beijing where masks every day. Very sad!

The Transport & Environment study compared the contamination from fine particles of the ten largest European tourist cities by converting it into the number of cigarettes smoked. The NGO used a method of calculation created by Berkeley Earth, an international climate association.

This study comes just weeks after Paris and other departments in Ile-de-France were put on high alert over a rise in ozone levels due to the recent heat-wave. The ozone pollution also caused immediate health issues, including a rise in rhinitis and asthma attacks.

According to Berkeley Earth, air pollution kills more people worldwide each year than AIDS, malaria, diabetes or tuberculosis.

This has to be fake news.
China leads the world in clean energy production.

Yea, just take a look at China's ghost cities where the Chinese government is suckering in people to buy into worthless properties!

China isn't as strong as our MSM makes them out to be. They have a bubble that is ready to pop and destroy them as our housing bubble did.

Their air quality has been atrocious for years and they have been making bank at the expense of their citizens while not caring for their health and well being. Thank God Trump pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord, because it would have benefitted China!

This may sound a bit silly, but living here in Japan, we all suffer from the air pollution blowing in from China, and yes, we do wear worthless mask.

no wonder they wear masks everywhere when they move here

On the plus side, it's cheaper than an actual 3 pack a day habit, one could save around $90 a week...

On a serious note, this is why manufacturing is not such a great thing, it creates working class jobs at the expense of the environment and people's health.

Yes, people who live in high manufacturing areas in China, don't get to see the sky.. or the stars.

It does cause concern about bringing all those big manufacturing jobs back here. Employment, sure. But at what cost?

I love how some people blame Capitolism for this one....
This is what happens when socialism controls every aspect of life.
They claim to be for the people but they sure as hell don't have to answer to the people.

Holy crap! Very odd “coincidence” but an ex of mine here in Cali just suffered a “stroke-like” migraine in the SJ area. It was so bad she lost feeling and speech and it may have been induced by a panic attack... Fire off the 280 just yesterday, beside the unusual torch that is the Golden State.

Buuuuut, reading your article makes me wonder. As I was trapped on the 80W after a CHP was killed, it seemed like all of CA was burning.

I just dropped my present GF up in NW CA for college. Sorry for bein so CT but the mind wanders. Along my way home, I was led by patrol car along the 299, Un-f’ing-real. Looked like Fallout Trinity-Shasta.

My heart and thoughts to anyone affected by the devastation. It is wicked to be sure

Well put simply more people will have more money, but the money will need to be spent on healthcare as the air pollution coupled with poisoned rivers and waterways will have a detrimental effect.

China has population control (one-child policy till 2015, now a two-child policy) and they are communist.

Anything else I can help you with in your path to awareness?

~sigh~

A two-child policy now, since 2015.

They DO have population control.

Sorry I misspoke on their population control number, which has indeed changed but they still have population control.

Treat yourself to a Snickers bar or something sugary... you caught me in the middle of an edit.

Edited to add... English isn't my first language and I couldn't find the definition of Edicate.

Were you just being sarcastic? I couldn't tell.

If you couldn't spell Educate correctly, then suddenly a lot of your posts make sense.

So. If we want to save the planet the thing to do would be to conquer China and shut down all the factories and scatter all the misplaced people to all of the bored humanitarians in Europe.
