My medical issues are not self inflicted, but thank you and I understand your intent.

Sometimes I am so naïve about things. I didn't know health insurance was so expensive. I really didn't. Mine comes through my job and they take some money out of my check each month, but nowhere near what you pay, or your friend, so I'm sort of in a state of shock.

Here's to all our good health

They DID win something, they won millions/BILLIONS of dollars short changing the American public in a market a very select few are ever allowed to participate in, the Hedge Fund market. You can't even play there unless you have about $5m - $20m bucks to invest. You and I are not allowed. Why? Because then they couldn't bet on YOU losing, that's why!

Your mutual funds are infected with "derivatives", they're replete in the market. I strongly suggest you look into them and understand what kind of financial instruments they are. They're EVIL, and they're WRONG...and they should be OUTLAWED.

So should short selling on the market, the Stock Market. There is absolutely no good served by short selling. It's a technicality, a loophole, where people with a whole bunch of money can manipulate entire markets of people who are just try to make responsible investments. It's sad, it's wrong...and it should be ILLEGAL!! (i.e. trading floor licenses suspended!)

oh I would NEVER buy a mutual fund

I'm into currency/ gold playing interest rates and real estate those are the things I watch the closest

I get why the market exist but I'm just not convinced that we need it, I mean if we didn't have a market how would companies become massive wealthy monopolies?

$1,600/month for two is typical. The cited deductible is not, for a group plan.

Threads like this really speak to the need to have a career in a field that provides good benefits.

I'm so used to the $100 - $150 that has come out of my check every 2 weeks over the past 22 years that I forget for those with a career or job not in an industry that provides benefits what a burden that becomes.

What’s odd is the day you get home from court after getting your bankruptcy approved the next day you’ll have credit card offers in the mail

I know many younger Americans opted out...but when you are older, it's not so easy to stop having insurance.
The older you get, the more the body breaks down.

Of course, I never could afford to go to the doctor on obamacare.....paying $6000 on a deductible first.
But, if you have a heart attack or cancer, that $6000 doesn't look so bad.

Really, though?
Instead of dividing Americans by age, we should be banding together against the 1%...they are the enemy.
Not boomers, millennials, gen Xers or whoever.
United we stand, divided we fall.

I find it funny because my age group (the really lazy loser socialist generation, the Millennial's)

No kidding?

Going by your username and some of your posts, I had you pegged as a middle-aged dildo dealer.

oh I'm well aware of that, that's why I made the post

my intent behind the rhetoric (not the actual financial analysis part) was to point it out, of course everyone became overly emotional and immediately went to their default positions on these topics but I anticipate that

No, it's not typical.
To keep my premium within my budget, I had a $6000.00 deductible for a bronze plan.

Not everyone can afford better plans and still pay for things like food and shelter.

well, they know they can sell the debt off or get a bailout

they also know the entire economy is built on debt and without debt we wouldn't have a GDP

I was going to make a thread on how much of the GDP is debt and how much of the recent GDP is both debt and stock buybacks but I don't have time

How about a broken leg?

Of course, sitting at a computer on a summer Saturday, how likely is that to happen?

Small business. I get my insurance the same way an individual does.

Phage I'm not a Republican or a Democrat and I'll pass up the bait.

I starred ya and thanks for bringing new content to the table to chew on. Having that said, I’d suggest checking your denigrating tone. It saps the weight of your message and doesn’t do the older members here any favors in terms of appreciation or info-sharing.

I agree with you most of your posts, however we all came from somewhere and we are all fighting our own battles....

So, you're self employed. Because "bronze plan" seems to refer to an exchange plan.

well, we are deep enough into the thread for me to explain that's not my real position

but it doesn't sound nice does it? it doesn't sound nice when my age group is belittled and told the economy sucks because everyone is a loser except like 5% of the population

the real point of the post is to point out that it's not just some lazy a-hole living in his momma's basement that's experiencing the economy in a negative way, there's a lot more to it then, "go work lazy"

Self employed then. Small business means something else when it comes to medical plans. Maybe you should look around a bit.

I agree with you...
That is exactly what the elite wants is division among the population.
People do need to get along more and not dwell on things that happened
in the past.We shouldn't let the past ruin our future.
