here we go.

i cant wait for Khabib to smesh. Khabib opened up as the favorite but i imagine conor will creep up there as it get closer.

Khabib comes from Dagestan 2 months out from his fights to train with Javier Mendez in San Jose at AKA. he will be training with Cain and DC.

pretty sure Conor stays in Ireland at SBG the entire time.

going to be a long night for Conor. Chad Mendez gave him a hell of a time on the ground. i think Khabib just gonna do what he does and get him in a nice little ride and smash him. nice and slow and steady.

we will see.

This will be a short fight...Conor will KO him early...this is a massive style contrast...neither man can adapt enough to meet the other in their wheelhouse...the puncher cannot reasonably expect to survive the ground game and the grondgame specialist cannot reasonably expect to stay awake if he is forced to stay on his feet....this is going to be a LIGHTENING WIN by one of these two...whoever IMPOSES their style first will win....and IMHO Conor is better at imposing his will expeditiously.....at controlling from the first second forward....lethal from the first breath in the Octagon until he steps out of it.

They should have put Funky Ben in with Khabib then we wouldn't have to hear the hollow hype about Khabib who is just another ground and pound hamburger grinder...exactly what Conor has trained his whole life to put to right sleep .

couldnt disagree more

if a grappler of that level wants you down youre going down. bottom line

and as i said chad mendez pounding the # out of him for 5-6 minutes. he got conor down easy and kept him down.
nate choked him out easily. conor is not high level on the ground. khabib is.
conor does not have the best cardio either

gonna be a good night

Conor is world class at catching you coming to him.... I predict that Conors hands are faster and harder than Khabibs takedowns are....I can see a Diaz type puncher getting bullied to pieces and taken down because the KO power is not there....but Conor has proven he has thunder in his hands....he CAN knock anyone out if they give him the shot...and IMHO Khabib PLANS on giving him the shot ...and HOPES he doesn't get his lights turned off...because he knows if he gets Conor down he rules...this is a direct stylistic clash and the UFC knew what they were doing.....they want to knock Conor down a notch and reduce his power....and IMHO this is Conors first true test.....this is Conor vs the UFC who are now trying to dethrone him....lol....yes this is IMHO the most dangerous matchup Conor could take...but at the same time if he puts Khabibs big light out he silences the UFCand re-asserts himself as a powerhouse in the Industry....the more savage and immediate the KO the better and I am sure Khabib will come right at him and let it happen....nobody blink cause I think this one wil be over really fast.

If Khabib can make weight I hope He smashes Connor...don't really like either.

If Khabib can't make weight He shouldn't be allowed in that weight class anymore.

He couldn't ko Diaz with flush perfect shots.

Kevin Lee vs Connor would be a good one. Not sure how much longer Lee can make 155 he is only 25 years old so still filling out a bit.

Im definitely in Conor’s corner, no matter who he fights. Now that Ive admitted by bias....

This is a great matchup because of the contrasting styles. Khabib as of late has gained confidence in his standup. Even if thats the case, Conor easily has the edge on the feet.

Khabib would be wise to take it to the mat but we know Conor is gonna to try to get the mental edge on the promotional tour which could lead to Khabib adjusting his gameplan.

Conor has great takedown defense and has survived ground and pound (Mendez) to later get the KO.

This will go at least 2 rounds. Conor’s chances of winning diminish the longer the fight goes. I hope it’s not as quick as the Aldo fight.

This should be fun to watch for the next 2 months!!

Let’s get it on!

I am so sick of these piece of crap thugs constantly being rewarded and made into multi millionaires. If anyone in the real world acted like these tattoed steroided apes they would be in jail.

still disagree. youre saying he can knock anyone out and has thunder in his hands then says this is is true test. if he has never been tested then we dont know just how good he is huh.

conor is a great striker. very precise.

its just not going to be enough.
that is his one chance. catch khabib coming in and put him down.
if he misses his window and khabib clinches and/or gets him down conor is through.

i just think conor has more to worry about where khabib really only has to worry about 1 aspect.

conor does not have great cardio so that is another problem. say he misses his window in round one and it hits the clinch or the ground. conor is going to be so #ing tired from carrying khabibs weight for 3-4 minutes or however long he is going to become less effective. that will play a part too.
every minute that passes his chances of winning slip.
for khabib it goes the other way.

As a fellow Irishman I was a big Conor fan before his UFC career started. This should be an epic battle in the cage. Conor will likely be rusty. Khabib showed serious holes in his last fight, maybe he was bored? Also wasn't the fighter he trained for though.

Khabib is obviously great and if he can handle Conor's power I could see him grinding out a win. Or tiring out and submitting Conor.

Even as a Conor fan I'm a bit disappointed he can come back and instantly get a title shot. I love the league more than any 1 fighter, and this isn't exactly fair to other contenders. It is a great moneymaker and epic matchup, and they will get my money.

I hate Conor. Bias revealed. It's quite obvious he's a smart guy and it's all a big giant act. More power to him for getting where he is.

I hope Khabib smashes him on the ground, badly.

Will be a good fight regardless of winner.

Way too many armchair octo generals in here. Blah blah blah. Either way, it's going to be an amazing fight. I've been excited for this matchup for ages. Still want to see Khabib against Ferguson.

In any case, if you can't stand a certain fighter, don't let that cloud your judgement of the fighter. Let their actions in the octo speak for them.

I'm also looking forward to Cody and TJ's fight.

Connor is going to break in the first round after khabib drags him down fast.

ETA: I don't think it ends in the first.

Diaz is a human punching bag...and he is very unorthodox...and when he comes at you he isn't exposing himself as much as it seems...the Diaz brothers TRADE SHOTS in the purest way...they fully plan on getting tagged but not with the biggest shots they will eat one to take one and it has made them adept at eating mid-power shots and extremely good at their angles so they avoid the biggest shots...they are slippery....but they engage first and most and weigh their odds in terms of damages both fighters can endure....on their feet that is....on the ground they are all business and take you out ASAP and IF THEY HAD KO POWER this is what they would do on their feet....their intentions are to engage and overwhelm immediately on their feet or on the ground they just don't have the power to be standup dominant.

I don't like the Diaz style on their feet but I respect it because it really is dirty blood and guts scrapping...and their ground game is excellent and to be respected....I also love Funky Ben because of his ground dominance...the guy looks like a muffin tosser and seemingly hits you with his freaking purse and it is death by 1000 cuts …..LMAO...but he is DOMINANT ON TOP and NO ONE IS GETTING UP EASILY.

Most of all to me the Diaz body type works in their favor...if we compare shooting from a Diaz who is long and thin and gangly to a Khabib who is compact and short......we are talking apples and ranges...when we discuss Conor landing a big KO shot on both of these men as they close the gap it looks to me like Khabib is bringing much more power speed and impact to the equation and these are the things that saved Diaz from being put to sleep...the MORE you bring to the dance with Conor the MORE HE CAN FEED YOU BACK....Diaz was tactical and slippery...Khabib is not tactical nor slippery he is stubborn young fearless and strong and he will present himself to the executioner.....like I said Funky Ben would have scared me in against Conor but Khabib is a little bear Cub still and I think this one will leave a mark on him....he gonna look really really confused when he wakes up...hes not going to believe it even happened because he is so sure of himself....lol...youthful vanity.

I would take Funky Ben much much more seriously than Khabib….FB is EXPERIENCED and is SAVVY and Khabib has an amatures attitude and is lacking elite level professionalism...he is to RAW still....

I cant get over how open to the head kick Khabib ALWAYS IS...his stance is so sloppy...he is so one-track minded with his intentions to execute a takedown and so confident that he lets other areas of his game get sloppy....me...I might try to head kick him to sleep right off the bat ..a straight fading left hand with that forward step torqued into a right head-kick.....followed by a reverse spinning backhand with the right while his feet are still planted from absorbing the head-kick.

Conor is not me and I am just a fan....lol...I expect Conor to move a lot to keep himself sweating and slippery and to throw a lot of leather...and I look for him to throw cutting elbows at the kid if they end up on the walls...exit every clinch throwing SLICING ELBOWS and look to open the kid up...its hard to work on the ground when everyone is slippery.

raw?

you realize Khabin has hundreds of fights right. including wrestling matches and sambo. amateur and pro??

i am with you on ben askren though. i would love to see him and khabib go at it.

it is not going to happen though. ben and dana do not get along well and dana has said he will not sign ben.

ben didnt get hit once in his last 3 fights.

that would be a wrestling clinic but i still take khabib. he is just too high level. ben is high level too but that folk style khabib has is dirty man.

i think a lot of people discount the mentality of khabib too. all this guy knows is fighting. it is all he has ever done.

he came up hard. battle tested if you will.

my ultimate goal is to see khabib smash conor then hopefully tony ferguson. i think tony is a much harder fight for khabib than conor.

in the end my big hope is in the next year or so dana signs garry tonon. in the next 2-3 i want to see garry tonon vs khabib no matter who khabib wins or loses to. that is my number 1 fight right now unless dana changes his mind and signs ben askren.

garry tonon's jiu jitsu is at the highest level. khabibs wrestling is at the highest level. neither one have amazing striking.

khabib training with his father and cain, dc, and javi mendez.

garry training with john danaher, gordon ryan, eddie cummings and tom deblass.

dude. thats the match right there.

khabib, askren, tonon. i just want to see those guys all mix it up with each other.

hint for the long game of mma/ufc

in 5 years or less i predict gordon ryan will be the heavyweight champion and garry tonon will be featherweight/lightweight champ or #1 contender.

if he is so wide open and sloppy then how come he is 26-0?
nobody has even come close to beating him or knocking him out. he has never even lost a round.

you have to keep in mind how good his grappling and takedowns are.

another reason to think about that is every time whoever he fights takes a shot that leaves them open to a takedown.
if it was some average grappler for example his opponent would throw more.
with khabib his opponent has to be very selective with their shots cause of the extremely high risk of a takedown.

even if you want to call conor's standup the greatest ever. he still has a huge worry in missing against a guy that can take you down so easy.

that threat makes people change the way they fight. you have to consider that.

I believe everything you say is valid....this will be a wicked walk on the wild side...it will be explosively violent...IMHO when we consider what the UFC is trying to do to Conor by unleashing Khabib on him...well if Conor realises what they are trying to do...he could come into this fight on a mission of self-preservation which we have never seen Conor be on before....and if there was ever a way to re-invent Conor Mcgregor well my friends it was to set him up and make him become the HUNTED....the risk vs reward in this fight to me is the highest it has ever been in Conors career...and truly if Conor wins he will kick Dana White and the UFC squarely in their Velvet Crown Royal Bags.

Clearly the UFC is not trying to manage Conors career with longevity in mind anymore....lol...we all can see how dangerous Khabib is....but IMHO the UFC conspirators made a CRITICAL ERROR...in finding such a clear and distinct stylistic clash....I know why they did it...because they are so sure that Khabib will get Conor down at least once before he is KOed and they are 100% sure Khabib only needs one chance to end the fight on the ground....and now my friends this is why I say Conor will win...HE NOW KNOWS THE STAKES and he will manage his distance and not rush things he will pick his spot beautifully …. Dana and Co. think they are sending Daniel into the Lions den to be eaten alive.....they might get a surprise when the Lion is tamed....I am biased because it is so hard to respect Dana White and because the UFC has had so many crooked decisions it was looking like pro Wresteling or Boxing with the fix being in for quite a while....I know Conor is a showman but he is in show business isn't he...that's what Pro Sports are a viewer focused piece of show business.

if you look at all the fighters that have ever been in the UFC khabib is unique in how he came up too.
the mindset. i think it is one of those things that cant really be taught. high level fighters will tell you a huge part of it is mental toughness.
khabib has done nothing but fight his entire life.

he just does not seem like he will get shaken up by anything.

conor is razor shop. very unique in how he moves. he has a lot of tools for sure.

i guess the most basic way to see it is i dont see how conor can offord to miss but it does not matter how many times khabib misses.
im confident conor will not be able to avoid the takedown and when he goes down i am confident he will not be able to get up.
for the most part of course. khabib might not get him down first shot and conor might work his way up here or there but like i said the longer it goes the lower conors chances are.

conor has to connect when he throws. he likes to throw awkward kicks too. they are effective but he will be off balance.
thats not good if he does not connect.

anything can happen for sure. conor could definitely win.
i wouldnt call it luck or a fluke but if they fight 10 times i say khabib wins 8-9.
he just has a dominating style where he just smashes.

another reason i think tony is a better fight for khabib. well better fight for us fans but a worse fight for khabib.
tony is a 10th planet black belt. his rubber guard is nasty. he submits dudes from the bottom all the time. i dont just mean in the cage. in the gym. there is footage on the MTS tapes.
huts nasty darces too.

he can afford to be on the ground or even on bottom. someone like conor can not afford that.

watch the chad mendez fight. he is a good wrestler and he gave conor a fit
