Removing corruption is always a good thing. Private insurance has to increase profits every quarter-or the investors jump ship.

Non profit seems to be the logical way to go with a health care system, no quarterly demands for 3% profitability increases.

I see where you are going with that but the problem is this.

Non profit has to be subsidized, that means that its going to get its money from donations etc, the majority of that is going to be provided from...........you guessed it.....the gov.

"I see you guys are under budget next quarter, you know we can really help you out with that from DC"

See how that goes?

Private industry always does it better, cheaper, and more efficiently.

And they also get huge amounts of money from the gov, HUGE amounts of funding from the ACA, and are protected from ANY competition, by the gov due to the subsidies they get FROM the gov. They are protected.

This is why we cant have insurance like "GEICO" for health insurance.

IF we could implement a system like that? Not only would you see the prices go down in care, and affordability skyrocket
The quality of care would go through the roof.

can you imagine if we could make health insurance like car insurance where ANYONE from ANY state could bid in on rates?

It would revolutionize the healthcare industry

But thats why the gov REALLY doesnt want to fix it, thats why so many are pushing universal healthcare, they can control the money that way, they can continue to fund and monopolize pharma, and who gets how much funding.

If they really wanted to fix it, they would go the way of car insurance for healthcare and let the private sector do it. But the fact is, there is JUST.......NOT....AS MUCH money in it.....

Thats where the corruption lies.

GEICO (bad choice)
Government Employee Insurance COmpany

If I remember right there are only 5 health insurance carriers (huge corps). Does this limit competition?

And yes the govt is not doing the right things to make insurance affordable. Change will happen planned or otherwise.

You might not like GEICO but they still offer some of the lowest price-point for coverage in the country, and take care of their people. Some are lower depending on the company. The point is, they are bound by COMPETITION.

I feel like youre just trying to argue for the sake of arguing now, you know exactly what Im talking about, private companies and entities providing coverage across state lines at rates that are determined by their company not by the gov.

Come on man.

I will not argue for the sake of arguing.

Again change will happen planned or otherwise. And just this interaction with you shows the depth of this issue.

The only thing larger than the challenge of changing this is the money made by keeping this system rolling as long as possible.

Strange because there are strong ties to Koch Industries in his administration.

Trump’s Koch administration

I read another article a while back when he first got elected. I forgot who but even bigger players in his admin have strong ties.

The Koch brothers seem to be more open borders and globalism as their companies benefit from both policies.

Yeah they are libertarians. Libertarians don't like tariffs or intervention in the labor market. Or wasting money on a wall that keeps people in as much as out.

The libertarian perspective on immigration is often regarded as one of the core concepts of libertarian theory and philosophy. Some libertarians assert that "[e]fforts by the government to manage the labor market are as apt to fail as similar efforts to protect domestic industries or orchestrate industrial policy.

universal health care just means everyone is covered. It doesn't even have to mean by the government but that it is offered to everyone and everyone must buy it. Europe for instance has many kinds of universal health care some of which are market driven. Some are single payer, triple payer, marketplaces etc. The Swiss have a nonprofit Healthcare system but the nonprofits compete. Lots of stuff out there other than government run Healthcare that is universal. The universal aspect, like car insurance where you have to have it, lowers rates.

Sure, be we arent talking about you, we're talking about the Kochs. Their motivation is indeed partisan, as that assessment effects them and their ends. Do they have the interests of the working man or woman at heart? Or do they just want the gift of cheap labor to keep on giving.

I dunno, really whose to say? maybe they do , maybe they dont, im sure profits are a HUGE deal to them.

But how long have so many of us on the right side of thing championed the fact that the free market, and profits for these companies LIFT UP, people, create jobs, etc etc etc.

So now were against capitalism because Trump?

I hope you can understand what im trying to say here.

Depends. Do you champion crony capitalism? I don't.

But you guys werent calling it crony capitalism in regards to the Koch brothers just 4 short years ago?

Are you sure about that? Or are you speculating?

I can tell you that I have been on this site off and on since 2007, and when the Koch brothers were going through their back and forths in the news, MOST conservatives were sticking up for them.

We can play this semantics game all night, but we all know its true.

Since Trump has come into office, the left and right have COMPLETELY switched their positions on so many issues, and its plane as day , to see news casters and former "conservative champions" Go the opposite direction on issues depending on if Trump is for or against it.

You must be referencing times when the Kochs and conservative aligned on certain issues. However I'm fairly certain most conservatives would agree that we need to get rid of money and special interests in government regardless.

The left and right have not switched positions since Trump. You are witnessing the left go farther left, with the right further expanding to include moderate democrats and centrists. You are also witnessing RINO's showing their true colors and living up to the idea of the uniparty.

Don't you see the obvious phsychological issues he has, always trying to sound like a caveman, or Sadaam Hussein. Trump is unbelievably dangerous to America.

This statement is true in the social sense. However in the party sense the moderates of the left and right as well as the centrists and non authoritarians are very much disappointed with both parties. I know several centrist military vets who just didn't vote for president and are not happy with exaggerated nationalism. Some of us fear nationalism and socialism share to many ideas of the role of government in the market.
