Why is Paul Manafort in Solitary Confinement????

To protect him? Nope. To make sure that he has NO idea what is going on with the case and on the outside to make him talk and/or flip? Yeah, I think so.

Why would you keep Paul Manafort in solitary to begin with? He is not a threat.

Lawyers for ex-Trump campaign boss Paul Manafort are complaining that 'he is locked in his cell for at least 23 hours per day" as they appeal the recent revocation of his $10 million bail and subsequent jailing. Manafort's defense team in an appeals filing says his "solitary confinement" in a jail about two hours from his attorneys' office "makes it effectively impossible for Mr. Manafort to prepare" for two upcoming federal criminal trials.

Lawyers said officials at Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Virginia, and U.S. Marshals have "determined that if Mr. Manafort is to be detained, solitary confinement is the only way to ensure his security." Manafort, 69, was ordered jailed June 15 by U.S. District Amy Berman Jackson in Washington after special counsel Robert Mueller accused him of trying to tamper with potential witnesses for his trials. "I cannot turn a blind eye" to how Manafort "abused the trust" of the court, Jackson said that day.

Yet there I read it is for his own safety. His is not a gang member. He is not a mob snitch. This is bull# to the highest degree to try to squeeze some one who is almost 70.

He did LESS than the ones in the O admin I will not name because we ALL know the players and if you do not or plead ignorance move on...

I mean, where are the indictments for the Podesta brothers who he worked with during the issues he is charged about.

What I meant was there is no reason for him to be in solitary confinement. Even if in protective custody they are usually with people of the same nature.

In all, Weinstein now faces six felony charges relating to three women: two counts of predatory sexual assault, two counts of criminal sexual act in the first degree, and one count each of first-degree rape and third-degree rape. The charges are related to separate incidents in 2004, 2006 and 2013.

"A Manhattan Grand Jury has now indicted Harvey Weinstein on some of the most serious sexual offenses that exist under New York's Penal Law," Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. said in a statement. "This indictment is the result of the extraordinary courage exhibited by the survivors who have come forward."

But Paul Manafort is in solitary confinement for (allegedly) cheating on his income taxes +10 years ago!

Something is terribly wrong with our judicial system.

Well, I don't know why he is in solitary, but if they feel there is a threat to him, the only way to keep him safe is via no contact with other prisoners. I don't think there are subsections in prison for all the various types of offenders in protective custody. What I'm trying to say is, if in protective custody, he is in the same wing as child molesters, rats, gang members..ie bad people often no less dangerous than those in general population.

Now witness tampering was mentioned, they might not want him to have any kind of unsupervised contact with anyone..other than his lawyer of course.

I'm just pondering the possibilities.

No he is in solitary because of witness tampering he did while he was under house arrest for far more then income tax problems.

ALLEGED witness tampering. As far as we know, Manafort didn't even make contact with whomever he was trying to call...or IF he was trying to call anyone at all.

I worked in a Texas prison for a while. Trust me. Controversial high profile persons like him need to be either in solitary confinement, or at the very least Ad Seg. If not, then he definitely will be a target. There is zero doubt about it.

Even in ad seg people can be seriously hurt. Seg is essentially solitary confinement except they walk past a lot of cells when going to shower, and they run recreation all in the same area in individual cages which are easily broken through. In solitary confinement they are much more secure. And you'd better believe that some crazy inmate in seg with a knowledge of the anatomy will make a spear and try to kill him the moment a guard forgets to slide the big old shield as they walk down the run. That's a good way to make a name for himself. "Oh snap. You're the one who killed manafort! Eat our spread on me."

Yeah, it's for protection for sure.

He is in the Fed Pen right? I understand why people should be in certain places. Long story short I know some stories regarding state prison in NY but that is not what we have here.

Why put Manafort in solitary for that many hours a day?

Sure, Manafort did what just about ALL of the people in DC do. He was ratted out. Like Martha Stewart. You don't go to jail at that level without a fall back in most cases.
