No thread yet??

I thought nostalgia for the 70’s was alive and well here on ATS!

Eval Knievel is the world renown daredevil from the 1970’s and 80’s. He drove a stripped down Harley which is a real heavy bike. Known for making jumps just as much as not making them (they say he broke every bone in his body), I would watch in wonder Wide World of Sports after the fact his derringer do.

Now, X-Games darling, and Nitro Circus founder, Travis Patrana is about to jump the fountains of Caesar’s Palace on a custom Indian (another heavy bike).

First jump, 51 crushed cars (Eval did 50), 16 busses (14), then The Fountains!

Publicity stunt for Nitro Circus?? Fourth of July celebration? Crazy? Meh?

106F in the desert air.

I think that this is pretty cool!

Thanks!

Kind of forgot to mention that! And that it has been 50 years since Eval’s attempt.

What a drive down the Strip!! Hi-fiving, burn outs, selfies! What a way to make an entrance!

Here are the (3) jumps.

Kinda' looks like he pretty much schooled ol' Evel himself.

Made it look easy with plenty of room to spare....and not on a dirt bike either.

ETA...he probably could have made at least another 5 buses, and maybe 10-15 cars.

I got sick of hearing, "no one has successfully completed this jump....." (Speaking of the fountain)
I clearly remember Robbie Kneivel completing the fountain jump in the 90's. Even found this....

They mean “with bikes of that size.”

Pastrana’s mx bike is a couple hundred pounds. The Indian is around 410 lbs. So they are trying to compare apples to apples.

The bus jump was a smooth landing but the shock pulled his right foot off the peg and his head snapped down towards the handle bars. That is how heavy the bike landed.

It only has 4 inches of shock travel!

Ok, that makes perfect sense, cuz that Robbie Kneivel jump was just as mainstreamed, so i knew there was NO WAY IN HELL I was falling in with the ME crowd.
Plus it would only be 'thrilling' if it was a different bike. Different blood lust lol!
Besides, nowadays if you're not first, you're last.
Thanks for the info!
Ill sleep a lil easier tonight.
