No, respect is earned, like a commodity, it's not freely given as some intangible "right" with no benchmarks. Kind of like with the elderly. They may make a claim to respect based on age all they want, but if they didn't earn it like anyone else, they're not getting it. Same goes for any other age bracket, any job position, anyone. Who you are and what you do does not command respect, how you conduct yourself in spite of those DOES.

What's disturbing is she's not thinking. Her utterly effed up reasoning of still loving someone that has done that is a whole new level of willful blinders. If we're going by the actual definition of pedophilia, she's involved with someone who likes the prepubescent children, rather the teen years here, that's a different 'philia (that's ephebophilia or hebephilia)

That's messed up and she's missing the forest for the trees, she's part of the problem she's complaining about via staying put & tolerating it.
