He was correct fella, here's a link to prove it if you don't believe him. 16 year olds in Scotland don't need parental consent to get married. They need parental consent in England & Wales, but can cross the border to Scotland where parental consent is not needed.

Also, 'grounding' 16 year olds in the UK is not an option if the 16 year old wants to move out. I left home at 16 and was living/working independently hundreds of miles away from my family. There wasn't a darn thing my parents could do about it legally.

US 16 year olds seem to be treated like little children compared to UK 16 year olds, no wonder you have so many snowflakes.

The world has changed in crazy ways, kids don't walk to school like I did, I made my son walk unless it was raining lol, and young people seem to be treated like babies, living at home well into their twenties on mama and papa's coin.
