The wealthy will be as screwed as everyone else. It's arguably taken a melting pot of millions of people across space and time to finally produce the combustion engine. How will it work with a few thousand rich people unless they are engineers, chemists etc and with diverse practical skill-sets? If the rich think they'll have a future Utopia, they are wrong. The first obstacle worse than a blown fuse will put brakes to progress and they'll be back to basics again.

The guy with the bunker will depend on power and replenishing resources. He's right to be concerned about his authority. What could go wrong sharing an oasis with a heavily-trained and armed section of men with leadership qualities?

As we both know when that time comes it will be the rich looking at us saying "please help us" I for one will look down and say "No".
Then do a wee on the rich buggers.

Naa. Most of the folks are working class.

The closest we got was the guy from the CDC and the politician woman.

A group of wealthy elites, trapped in a luxurious underground prison with nary a lick of skill between all of them. Would be a great watch!

It'd be magic to watch multi-millionaires on a survival island or in a Stanford prison-style experiemnt. They'd last a day at most. Tantrums and finger slaps.

Imagine what life is like to have food and clean clothes magically be there every time you open a fridge or drawer? A world where dust doesn't exist...

I might be willing to live with all that if the price is feeble helplessness. Hehe.

In general, generalizations are not a good idea.

But, on the whole....just picture the Donald....

True. A lot of the super-wealthy have been raised with the physiques of veal calves and the practical skills of Spongebob.

*laughs derisively at the rich*

They made the future, they can jolly well swim in it with the rest of us!

TL DR:
If we want to survive we should treat it like any natural disaster and help each other to continue the human race.

This is too freaking easy if anything goes down. I say try to get your neighbors and your whole neighborhood into city hall for a giant meeting on how we can maintain peace and order, as if the world never went into chaos.

All we have to do is ask for everyones previous skills and use that as an advantage point to start a new community but same old rules. Once we know each other by name and what skill we know then we can slowly start a process of order out of chaos.

Next would be to ask those who arent that skillfull to relax and try to help out so we can still maintain peace. We can combine our modern skills with basic survival skills and other skills but we have to help each other out in order, as if this was another natural disaster.

We still have books on how to build things, we have pen and paper to make an inventory and catalog and organize things.

When the s hits the fan, all we are gonna be losing is electricity and water. It'd be like going back one or two centuries, but we can still manage.

Money is worthless as we secretly know but we cling to the idea of it being worthy. We are humans and the material world shouldn't consume us, we should learn how to control it and master it. To use as a tool for our progression. Physical, mental, and spiritual.

If anything survivaing The Big Event will force us to coexist instead of exist, but we already know how.

The rich are comparable to bad shepherds, they work hard to acquire a large flock of sheep so that they may profit off the sheep, then once they get the sheep and start profiting, forget that all their wealth comes from the sheep which they need to care for and maintain the health of if they desire to maintain the wealth they get from their flock. When the sheep start bleating that they are starving and some are dying, instead of working to help the sheep, he gets mad at them because he's not getting as much from them as he wants and instead of taking responsibility, blames the sheep for not producing enough good quality wool, despite that they are malnourished and sick.

The rich forget, that they live in a society built up of people, that all their assets exist because of that society, and that to maintain what he has earned, he must also maintain the health and well being of the society he relies on for his wealth. If the society becomes sick and malnourished because he chooses not to properly tend to it's well being, the only one to blame when the flock starts dying and not producing enough wool to keep him fat and happy is himself.

So sure, become rich then leave us all behind, you won't stay rich for long, as being rich and acquiring all that comes with it requires people to supply what the rich enjoy. I find the idea of a group of rich people suddenly realizing some of them have to become sheep to serve the others and fighting over who get's to serve kind of amusing in a poetic justice kind of way.

The rich have this weird delusion that their wealth comes with no responsibility to the society they got it from, and THAT is why we are where we are today.

A very interesting article about how some very wealthy people are planning for the future. That future doesn't look very good to them.

medium.com...

Finally, the CEO of a brokerage house explained that he had nearly completed building his own underground bunker system and asked, “How do I maintain authority over my security force after the event?” For all their wealth and power, they don’t believe they can affect the future.

The Event. That was their euphemism for the environmental collapse, social unrest, nuclear explosion, unstoppable virus, or Mr. Robot hack that takes everything down.

This single question occupied us for the rest of the hour. They knew armed guards would be required to protect their compounds from the angry mobs. But how would they pay the guards once money was worthless? What would stop the guards from choosing their own leader? The billionaires considered using special combination locks on the food supply that only they knew. Or making guards wear disciplinary collars of some kind in return for their survival. Or maybe building robots to serve as guards and workers — if that technology could be developed in time.

For them, the future of technology is really about just one thing: escape.

They were amused by my optimism, but they didn’t really buy it. They were not interested in how to avoid a calamity; they’re convinced we are too far gone. For all their wealth and power, they don’t believe they can affect the future. They are simply accepting the darkest of all scenarios and then bringing whatever money and technology they can employ to insulate themselves — especially if they can’t get a seat on the rocket to Mars.

Timeline for Nibirus arrival is 2021....yes they are now in full flight mode.

Every 3657 years the Earth suffers from global continental displacement and the ensuing displacement waves...Noahs flood on a timetable...and they know the timetable.

Gilll Broussard is a good source of data....2021 is the next passing date.

This is survivable but only if you have specific knowledge...money is not the key issue....location and method are.....I know this data and if your survival attempt is not made in this or a few other areas you are toast....most DUMBS will not work....and people need to realise that they will surface to NOTHING but thousands of km of mudflats...all the survival gear will be useless for YEARS until the wildlife can re-establish which depends on the fauna reestablishing which depends on the weather and those who do survive will be REBUILDING HUMAN CIVILISATION....completely....and no matter what most of todays knowledge will be lost....education and learnng will be gone we could lose languages science math medicine everything.

Might suck to be a guard with these people. After the doors shut and they think they are safe they may do away with you.

Everything you said could have been summed up here.

This would be true is wealth was finite. It isn't.

Might suck to be hunted down for generations as humanitarian terrorists now wouldnt it....being a guard might not be so healthy in the long run...there WILL BE SURVIVORS outside of the underground facilities...and when they find each other and eventually organise they will come a hunting for those who left humanity out to dry...there will be no big reunification party...and some may find that indeed wealth is as finite as their lives are.History repeats itself the only question is which side of the equation will you choose to be on as it happens.

I'll be the devils advocate here again. What gives you all the impression if the SHTF that the world is going to be survivable for the human race?
You can be the best survivalist, the best scavenger but if you aint got oxygen to breathe, rich or poor, your gone.

LOL

Any loyalty that can be bought in the first place can be bought again at twice the price.

You are correct.

No matter how special and altruistic a person may think they are, placed under the right circumstances, with the right motivation and incentives, we will find out that everyone has a price. I pray that we never are placed in a position that lets us know what that price is.
