Milwaukee: Harley-Davidson, up against spiralling costs from tariffs, will begin to shift the production of motorcycles headed for Europe from the US to factories, to overseas facilities.

The European Union on Friday began rolling out tariffs on American imports like bourbon, peanut butter and orange juice. The EU tariffs on $3.4 billion (Dh12.4 billion) worth of US products are retaliation for duties the Trump administration is imposing on European steel and aluminium.

Looks like this is turning out to be costlier than expected. In the end trump has to understand, these are companies focused on profit. Loyalty to their country only goes so much before they put in measures to save themselves. Picking a fight with EU, Russia, China and possible every other country with this "Tariff war" will only be detrimental to the US.

seems like most of trumps tariffs are industry peripherals, aimed at giving US full advantage on deregulation.

example: chinese made drill bits and boring equipment that may be used in the oil field.

these "retaliatory" tariffs have no compounding effect.

non issue.

Wasn't Harley Davidson going bankrupt a couple years ago? We had 3 large Harley dealers that closed in NJ PA & NY
years ago and it had nothing to do with tariffs ? Their bikes are beautiful but come on now who can afford them?

Really? That’s odd. In the 80s, when stationed on Japan, a fifth of Seagrams was $6.50 on post. It was almost $50 on the economy. Unless, of course, you’re referring to buying on an American military installaion.

Yes.
There can be a Mud Pit thread and a regular forum thread on the same topic.
Same as for Breaking Alternative News and a regular forum thread.
Those are the two exceptions.

Carry on
