prescription Niacin was tried for taurine and has some beneficial effects but some negative effects sometimes too because the best one was nicotinic acid and that can have flush symptoms.

I've been to a couple of specialists and I have almost perfect hearing, upper 10 percentile across the entire spectrum (90% or better hearing), but I still have that constant droning and noise in my head. I can replicate it and let someone listen to it and they can't take it for more than 30 minutes. It came on slowly, so I have adapted somewhat, but I am getting a little weary of it as it is getting worse/louder and harder to ignore, so, time for a CT scan to find out if there is an unwanted "resident" in my head.

ETA: Thanks for the links, btw, until I got to the part about energy drinks containing high levels of Taurine, I thought I was going to have to go on a diet of cat food lol. The links were good, now to go get me some energy drinks :-)

There must be a dozen research articles out there that show that taurine can often cure or treat tinnitis. But most are done in europe and none of this seems to have been accepted by the FDA, big Pharma's buddies. You cannot pattent taurine, it is present in all people. When taking taurine, take a multimineral tablet including molybdenum. Adequate magnesium and B6 are also needed in the diet. If you take some methylcobalamin too, it can help to repair nerves.

Starting the experiment, 1000mg of taurine a day for 90 days. Will up the dose to 2000mg a day if it seems like nothing is happening. If I grow extra hair, a third eye or my pecker falls off, will let you know lol.
