Marriage is the problem when the government gets involved in what is basically a religious event and then dictates what that event will be. That is why we have situations like this.

I think the only proposal is there is no government contract. Otherwise you are trying to enforce your religious belief.

However we have a family court, (unconstitutional) that enforces laws dealing with the separation of property, death rights, inheritances, estates etc..
