He broke the rules (repeatedly) regarding filming and interviewing witnesses and the accused. His actions could have resulted in a mistrial. You can argue all you want about those rules but he clearly and knowingly broke them and by doing so risked allowing the accused to get off by his actions.

And its really not an appeal to authority to point out a Judge knows more about the law and circumstances of trial they are presiding over than you do.

It is absolutely not about giving the prosecutor an advantage or not. It's primarily about protecting the victims and witnesses from retribution, as well as assuring neutrality from the bench.

No it doesn't, free speech does not allow contempt of court, innocent until proven guilty is a universal right, free speech comes under human right and no one human right supersedes the other. They are merited on a case by case basis - the right to a fair trail and anonymity of victims is more important than the right to make false statements or reveal data which may cause victim ID to be unearthed.

Thats exactly what they're doing. Public opinion is banned from interfering with trials, we have trial by evidence not trial by media or mob, juries decide on evidence and evidence alone - interference in this is a corruption of a criminal trial.

Wait a second, all this guy did was talk and film outside of a courthouse? Then he was arrested for contempt of court?

And people are supporting his arrest?

So if this is the case, all court appearances and arrivals should be completely secret. Some type of underground structure where they are brought in with unmarked, secured vehicles and then go into court with no interaction and no visibility outside of the court structure. That they aren't doing this is in direct violation of their own laws. Anyone that watches someone enter a courthouse could be in violation of this statute.

What a farce. Anything to welcome and comfort the true pieces of # that are destroying that society. It is almost like this is a deliberate effort to implode the society. It can't be that simple SJW policies are creating this environment, it has to be actively encourages by all of those in power. I wonder why?

Try commuting contempt of court in a US Court, see how much freedom you really have.

i think the biggest point of conflict my fellow Americans have with this situation, is that such an act as being imprisoned or jailed over a protest or whatever is unconstitutional in the US, using breach of peace laws to silence protests are unconstitutional in america and most americans see such laws as unjust and oppressive. this is not something many americans will agree on with you brits so give up trying to convince them with reason.

Nah, there never would be such "contempt" because no person (including judges) have the right or ability (again, armed society) to infringe on our Constitutional rights.

You say he interview witnesses ? How the heck could he do THAT ? or interviewed the accused ???

Your people must be nuts . Over here in such a high profile case such as this Witnesses are Keot away from the public even there very locations are kept secret as possible But on a rare times they have been found there is a army of police no one and I mean no one not even mom gets in to see them .
