Every day since his inauguration proves I'm not wrong. Didn't think Obama was the greatest but I wasn't posting negative crap about every single thing he did. I don't believe I ever posted anything during his administration so here, let me hold that mirror for you

How is it deflecting? People in this thread are using this as an example of how much Trump loves Black people. Yet at the same time one of the biggest problems affecting the Black community are the number of Blank males sitting in jail for nonviolent drug offenses.

A token pardon of a boxer most people don't know about doesn't make Trump some kind of Civil Rights Warrior. And I'm going to call out people that act that way.

Go right ahead, but I have been hangin' out in this thread and there hasn't been ONE single person saying any such thing. I've seen many people merely commenting that pardoning Jack Johnson posthumously was the "right thing" to do and a good thing. That's all. Nothing more. Nothing less.

So, stop the hyperbole.

So what have the previous Statist Presidents done about it?

Even the black one did zip-a-dee-doo-dah

I’m not sure how you can question this action with a straight face. You would have to be a heartless jerk to not appreciate this pardon even if it is posthumous.

I don’t believe this takes away any of the very wrong wrong that Jack Johnson had to experience.

I mean, it’s good on the surface, but the OP instantly politicizes it by using it to bash another bad politician, Obama. So I question it.

A thread that is about Jack Johnson and this pardon that didn’t try to use him to slander someone else politically would have had a very different response from me.

Actually the OP said: "I cannot believe Obama didn't do it, nor anyone before him."

So out of the 17 presidents who could have done it, you took offense to mention of the last one who was actually petitioned by congress to do it and didn't?

Odd.

..but says that black folks who peacefully protest civil injustice and inequality should leave the country.

Have a link to that?

"You have to stand proudly for the national anthem," Trump told "Fox & Friends," "or you shouldn't be playing, you shouldn't be there, maybe you shouldn't be in the country."

Meh....

I thought you said Trump's comment was that they "should leave the country".

I wonder why we have the word 'maybe' in the English language if 'should' and 'maybe' mean the same thing? Damn those English grammar and vocabulary rules.

I often wonder if people read the source. Judging by some of the comments I would say no. In the source, it states that there is a number of people who wanted this man pardoned and brought it to the president attention.

Hey, look a title..........I think I will form an opinion on it.
I'm glad this was done. It is a small step but a step none the less in the right direction. Lord knows this country needs a lot more steps.

Same difference... dog whistle.... but you just keep right on picking those nits.

The irony of Trump pardoning Jack Johnson is that Johnson would be just as hated by the white establishment today as Colin Kaepernick is. Jack openly mocked ceremonies of white supremacy and defied white authority. You Trump guys would hate him just like you do anyone else that defies you...

Oh, that's right. I forgot that we were in the land of nebulous, impossible to prove, sinister motivations that anyone can use to slime people they don't like or entire swaths of people they don't like.

Such an awesome sense of fairness, beloved by every previous historical tyrant.

Agreed... but you're pointing the finger in the wrong direction.

Thats great news. I am sure Jack J.'s family is grateful for closure of some sort. His name is restored. I bet that would be important to JJ.

Oh, Sylvester Stallone is the man. Good heart.

Well, if you’re going to sling mud and dig up negative stuff about someone who got pardoned, then you should also dig up the negative side of Jack Johnson as well.

He was no angel, and that played a part in why Obama never pardoned him.

Hey don’t forget that Harry Reid and John Mcain played big roles in this too.

Trump cares more about people and America than the Statists that came before him. It is good to see justice being served if not belatedly.

Closet KKK henchman & racist whitey President Trump pardons - black fella.

*crickets*

Somehow (and don't ask me how, because their creativity is eons ahead of mine) Trump will be now even more racist towards African-Americans because of this AND Obama will get the kudos because Trump is a racist.

Yes, because Trump actually does stuff. People have been trying to undo this injustice for a long time, no one cared.

So you disagree with the pardon. Do you think that Johnson was rightfully arrested for violating the Mann act?

I disagree with dead people being used by politicians.

You may think that’s a-ok.

You missed your angle.

Clearly, Trump only did this to excuse human trafficking of prostitutes.

At least, that is the angle Eric Garland took. Maybe you should take that angle instead of trying to create some strange moral high road on using dead people. At least, you could try to tie in Stormy Daniels or something.

Trying to help you out here.

Why didn't Trump also pardon anyone living that are serving ridiculous sentences? The blade cuts both ways.

Like ?
Or do mean the hardcore Federal prisoners like members of FALN and others Obama pardoned ?
You think that was a good idea ?
I dont
