Panama City active shooter situation on Beck Avenue

Panama City police say there is an active shooter situation on Beck Avenue.

Police say avoid the area of the 2300 block of Beck Avenue until further notice.

Multiple agencies are responding to the situation, including the Walton County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Michael Adkinson.

Witnesses tell us they've heard more than 50 gunshots in the area.

We have reporters on the scene and share more as we learn it.

That is 100% correct. The desired effect here is to sensationalize what is normal human behavior, acts of violence, but amplify them in an emotionally heightened state in order to instill fear not of the person, but of the tool of choice, the firearm.

Just to be clear OP, we are not shooting the messenger. We are ranting against the propaganda machine. Panhandle, I have family in the Panama city, I better check in with them be sure its all good.

Apparently, a shooter "unloaded more than 20 rounds in an armoured vehicle" (do they mean at?)

Good ole CNN. They are saying locally it could be a murder spill over for neighboring Walton County.

betting here the "armored vehicle" is probably a model of jeep or Hummer (1st Gen) . Unless a private owner of an APC has gone ape # or had his vehicle stolen.

Turns out my cousins are in pompano beach, not panama city. All clear for my peeps I guess.

According to Chief Investigator Jimmy Stanford with the Bay County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement is looking for a male suspect.

We're told deputies are also attempting to get residents in the area of the active shooter out.

Deputies say no injuries can be confirmed at this time.

As soon as the scene is safe, law enforcement officials will provide us with an update.

Chief Investigator Stanford has confirmed the male suspect they're looking for is the same suspect involved in a suspicious death on White Heron Drive in Santa Rosa Beach.

It's unclear to me if they meant "at" the SWAT armoured vehicle, or if they meant from an armoured vehicle, but the wording from the Independent article said "in an armoured vehicle"
