NYT: Gulf States Offered Trump Election Help, Erik Prince Lied to Congress

In almost any other presidential administration, this would be a bombshell that would be a topic of conversations for months. In the current climate, after a few news cycles it will probably not get much more attention from the public and many more will choose to ignore it altogether from the jump.

Trump Jr. and Other Aides Met With Gulf Emissary Offering Help to Win Election

WASHINGTON — Three months before the 2016 election, a small group gathered at Trump Tower to meet with Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son. One was an Israeli specialist in social media manipulation. Another was an emissary for two wealthy Arab princes. The third was a Republican donor with a controversial past in the Middle East as a private security contractor.

Erik Prince, the private security contractor and the former head of Blackwater, arranged the meeting, which took place on Aug. 3, 2016. The emissary, George Nader, told Donald Trump Jr. that the crown princes who led Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were eager to help his father win election as president. The social media specialist, Joel Zamel, extolled his company’s ability to give an edge to a political campaign; by that time, the firm had already drawn up a multimillion-dollar proposal for a social media manipulation effort to help elect Mr. Trump.

Alright so, first off we have reporting that suggests that Erik Prince lied to Congress. Here's just one example of an answer that Prince gave that is a flat out lie if the reporting is accurate:



There's been reporting that suggests that Erik Prince, who has substantial business interests with some of these people and who has known Nader since at least the time he (Nader) was employed by Blackwater, lied about other things including the Seychelles meeting.

Secondly, a little more detail on Joel Zamel/his company. Mr. Zamel is the founder of a company called Psy-Group. No, it's not a paranormal research team or a collective of superheroes with psychic abilities. It's a company HQ'd in Cyprus, reportedly staffed with ex-Israel intel people and which has the tagline "Shape Reality." It sounds a lot like Cambridge Analytica's parent SCL Group and is in fact, the umbrella for a collection of separate subsidiaries specializing in the same areas.

Mr. Prince opened the meeting by telling Donald Trump Jr. that “we are working hard for your father,” in reference to his family and other donors, according to a person familiar with the meeting. He then introduced Mr. Nader as an old friend with deep ties to Arab leaders.

Mr. Nader repeatedly referred to the crown princes of Saudi Arabia and the Emirates as “my friends,” according to one person with knowledge of the conversation. To underscore the point, he would open his mobile phone to show off pictures of him posing with them, some of which The New York Times obtained.

Zamel's company had been working on a proposal that sounds not at all unlike what the Russians were up to. Somebody should really tell us all these foreign states that social media manipulation isn't something to invest money in.

By then, a company connected to Mr. Zamel had been working on a proposal for a covert multimillion-dollar online manipulation campaign to help elect Mr. Trump, according to three people involved and a fourth briefed on the effort. The plan involved using thousands of fake social media accounts to promote Mr. Trump’s candidacy on platforms like Facebook.

There were concerns inside the company, Psy-Group, about the plan’s legality, according to one person familiar with the effort. The company, whose motto is “shape reality,” consulted an American law firm, and was told that it would be illegal if any non-Americans were involved in the effort.

There's really more to go over here and more implications than I'm prepared to delve into at the moment. I also don't want to excerpt much more from the lengthy article. So I'll summarize a few points here:

1. Nader was there representing the interests of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan of Abu Dhabi (de facto ruler of the UAE) and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia.

2. In addition to pitching this illegal influence campaign, Nader offered to set up a meeting between Don Jr and the CP of Saudi Arabia which Don Jr declined.

3. However he doesn't have seem to have outright declined the offer of assistance though there's also not much evidence that the proposal was acted upon either with one possible exception which may or may not be ultimately relevant:

[exews]In December 2016, Mr. Nader turned again to an internet company linked to Mr. Zamel — WhiteKnight, based in the Philippines — to purchase a presentation demonstrating the impact of social media campaigns on Mr. Trump’s electoral victory. Asked about the purchase, a representative of WhiteKnight said: “WhiteKnight delivers premium research and high-end business development services for prestigious clients around the world. WhiteKnight does not talk about any of its clients.”

After the inauguration, both Mr. Zamel and Mr. Nader visited the White House, meeting with Mr. Kushner and Mr. Bannon.

4. Nader also was dealing with Prince at the time for a proposal to get the Saudis to pay $2 billion to fund a private mercenary army to fight a proxy war with Iran.

5. Nader also pitched a proposal to military and intel leaders in Riyadh to attack Iran economically. According to the reporting, that plan was shared with Kushner and Nader asked him to promote it to CP Mohammed during a personal visit by Kushner with the CP.

It should also be noted that the meeting has been confirmed:

A lawyer for Donald Trump Jr., Alan Futerfas, said in a statement that “prior to the 2016 election, Donald Trump Jr. recalls a meeting with Erik Prince, George Nader and another individual who may be Joel Zamel. They pitched Mr. Trump Jr. on a social media platform or marketing strategy. He was not interested and that was the end of it.”

and

“There was a brief meeting, nothing concrete was offered or pitched to anyone and nothing came of it,” said Mr. Mukasey, the lawyer for Mr. Zamel.

So this Gulf Emissary won the election for Trump.

“I believe – I know, and this is from a very well-placed source of mine at 1PP, One Police Plaza in New York – the NYPD wanted to do a press conference announcing the warrants and the additional arrests they were making in this investigation, and they’ve gotten huge pushback, to the point of coercion, from the Justice Department, with the Justice Department threatening to charge someone that had been unrelated in the accidental heart attack death of Eric Garner almost two years ago. That’s the level of pushback the Obama Justice Department is doing against actually seeking justice in the email and other related criminal matters,” Prince said.

Now, this is pretty interesting considering he is probably positioned in a very interesting place to gather intel like no other. I mean he has been responsible for building and maintaining some of the most elite fighting forces and training facilities in the world. Very connected.

Back here in the real world, where living breathing people actually exist, this was a meeting that happened and has been confirmed by multiple sources, including by Don Jr's attorney, representing him to the media. The person who took the meeting. It's also been confirmed by other participants.

I showed you an excerpt of Erik Prince's testimony which clearly shows that in light of what has been revealed, Erik Prince perjured himself in testimony to Congress.

The fact that you can read that and then spew two year-old outrageous tales from the same man's mouth — tales which have not been evidenced by anything since — to paint him as possible victim, is amazing.

On top of all that, you completely try to distract from the fact that an agent of foreign governments offered assistance to the Trump campaign via "social media manipulation" to Don Jr in his capacity as a representative of the Trump campaign.

The meeting occurred. That's been confirmed by no less than Donald Trump Jr through his lawyer. Furthermore, it's absurdly obvious that Erik Prince lied to Congress.

I didn't say that the Trump campaign "colluded" with Saudi Arabia or UAE but an offer was quite clearly presented. Your reluctance to acknowledge those things doesn't really have anything to do with anything.
