Massive child care fraud being exposed as the government of Minnesota scrambles to find out what the Hell this is.

Apparently a bunch of immigrants from Somalia own and operate a bunch of child care centers and get millions of dollars from tax money to perpetrate fraud !!

WTF? 😃

Report: Somali Immigrants Ran $100 Million Daycare Fraud

A Minnesota State Senate Committee held a special hearing on Tuesday to consider legislation that would stop efforts to “broaden the childcare assistance program” after a local Fox News affiliate broke the story on Monday that Somali immigrants are allegedly running an estimated $100 million daycare fraud scheme paid for by taxpayers.

“I was concerned,” Scott Stillman, a former Minnesota State forensic examiner told told the committee.

“We are working on and currently overwhelmed with significant fraud cases involving organized crime defrauding hundreds of millions of dollars. Significant amounts of these defrauded tax dollars are being sent overseas to countries and organizations connected to entities known to fund terrorism,” Stillman wrote to his supervisors at the Minnesota Department of Human Services in an email on March 28, 2017, which was provided to the committee.

“The internal controls in these programs really need to be examined,” he added.

It is just your tax dollars... you know, the money equates to us working free for the first four months of the year to pay.

Somalia. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

You can't really expect somebody coming from Somalia to have any real sense of rules and laws. The country is a mess.

I was going to say something similar. You can't take people from a lawless country and expect them to be law abiding. In many countries it is the norm to be corrupt, they would actually think less of you if you weren't trying to get ahead in every way possible.

True story. My father in law works with a global corporation. Anyway, they do business in Africa. One of the big issues he told me is the culture of corruption. He said a lot of the African executives don't understand that they can't take bribes and other types of graft. It simply is just part of their culture and they see nothing wrong with it.

It is like how in China, stealing intellectual property is perfectly ok.

It seems like scammers and deceivers like to target help programs. People like to help others, but half the time the whole thing is a scam and thieves are getting rich. A third of the charities in this country are scams, some sources say it is up to half, but I do know that some charities take a time to develop and produce results so I figure a third is a more appropriate figure. Someone targeted this to get rich, targeting the good of the people.

Sadly, this is probably true and sadly this is just the tip of the iceberg. I see people abusing the help groups here in our communities, but this is small change here, there is much more money in larger places where people have more money. In a small community everyone knows everyone, news travels fast about scammers.

Confirmation is good.

I like seeing this in other places than just one biased news source.

Now after reading some more I can see that this wasn't just an isolated incident. But something that is systemic and definitely should be corrected.

Man you hit the nail on the head. These people got caught but so many are doing it we would be shocked.
Some are even on the fringes.

Goodwill, many people think it is a charity, it isn't. They are a business.

The fact that the church of Scientology has a tax exemption (or many other churches that are downright corrupt)

Medicare fraud by Rick Scott Floridas Governor, was the largest in US history, yet look who is still in office.

Sad Sad Sad!!!

No you are wrong, if you make any transfer in or out of a bank in the US over 10K it will be flagged and or investigated.

Vinnies is a good charity. They have the second hand stores and the money goes to feed and help the needy. So is the food pantry, donations buy a lot of food to help the needy, about fifteen cents a pound for most things to cover shipping costs.

Most people who donate to help people with cancer and cancer research have their money go to the wealthy. That is sad.

We donate a little to the country humane society but I see lots of people donating to organizations that are not legit, the money goes to pay for people to go down and get puppies from elsewhere, we should take care of our own local animals first, the humane society gets a lot of good animals where the aged owners have died or cannot take care of their pets anymore. Those older good animals, residents of our communities, get stuck in cages and they haul in puppies from half way across the country at great expense.

The medical trades and Pharma abuse the system more than anyone, but not all doctors and Pharma companies are that way. Hospitals are bad, they send people for unneeded tests and procedures just to stay in business, Obamacare gave these institutions more ability to rip people off.

It is everywhere, deceit is the new world order.

I wasn't saying it didn't happen, I was saying that people can't just send money without it getting flagged like you mentioned.

"Immigrants who don’t, or can’t, electronically transfer that money to relatives in their home countries instead carry it there directly. This is generally legal. However, criminals might also do this — especially since investigators have generally cracked down on organized crime and terrorist operatives trying to electronically transfer funds."

it's not the governments money so who cares?

I don't care, Nancy Pelosi is right, raise more of our taxes so we can give more free money away to people from other countries who contribute nothing to our nation
