Looks to be getting worse now with ash plumes reaching 12,000 feet in the air

The US Geological Survey issued a red alert, a major eruption is imminent or underway and ash could affect air traffic. Planes are being told to stay away.

Damaging earthquakes and acid rain now threaten Hawaii and ash may drift onto all the Hawaiian Islands

VOLCANO, Hawaii (Reuters) - "Ballistic blocks" the size of microwave ovens shot from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano on Wednesday in what may be the start of explosive eruptions that could spew huge ash plumes and hurl smaller rocks for miles (km), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Such eruptions, last seen nearly a century ago, have been a looming threat since Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, erupted nearly two weeks ago.

Explosions in Kilauea's crater sparked an aviation red alert due to risks the ash plume could blow into aircraft routes and damage jet engines.

More explosions are expected and may be more powerful, the USGS warned. These steam-driven blasts could send a 20,000-foot (6,100-meter) ash plume out of the crater, hurling 10-12 ton boulders up to half a mile (800 meters) and scatter pebble-sized rocks over 12 miles (19 km), the USGS has said.

This type of eruption has the potential to carpet the Big Island in much thicker ash than current dustings and possibly spread the powder and volcanic smog across the Hawaiian islands and farther afield if it enters the stratosphere

I sure hope Hawaii isn't one of those hidden super-volcanoes, that might lead to a bad day for everyone.

I know the title of that video is not yours, but it's a little over the top. "Panic in Hawaii," that's sensationalist nonsense.

No one is panicking. The vog is really thick today, and people are expecting further eruptions, but we're no where near the panic stage.

It's not just Hawaii: The U.S. has 169 Volcanoes that could errupt.

Interesting that many of the MSN outlets are suddenly talking about this, got any ideas as to why? hmm

Anyone know where to find and good real time live feeds from the volcano/area?

It's a way to spread fear and get people thinking about something other than the President and the government and all the crap about to come down on a lot of bad people.

Distract, distract, distract.

Not really, we have a "fake government"

Compete with fake drama, and fake self-consequences.

Distract, extract, get richy rich.

This things at least on video and confirmed on the ground as real.

I'd rather see volcanoes than compulsive liars.

Yeah, and we're talking years of crap. People are aware now of the Distractions they've used on us, in fact on the entire world. And like Rome, this too shall end.

Is this a plan for the government to evacuate everyone from the island and turn it into a massive central pacific military base ?

not likely, cool story though.

That's just it, no one can tell the difference between a bald faced lie and truth anymore. Common sense is common minus the sense. This place we've helped build we call civilized society will implode, and when it does, I'd rather be in a cave than holding a $1200 cel phone with stupid updated emoji's on it making appointments in some crappy sh@t hole having hair removal from the nether parts of my body.

Because there is an eruption underway in Hawaii. So it is a topic of interest.

At the page linked in the OP, USGS and the Hawaii Volcano Observatory (HVO) have some links in the "More Information" section.

Here's the link for the Kilauea webcams.

I'm assuming it's because it is news, and the media reports the news.

Just a guess.

Significant volcanic eruptions in or near populated areas tend to get a fair amount of MSM attention. So do major earthquakes, floods and fires.

I don't see anything odd in that. I'd find it more suspicious if such events were not widely reported.

It's my inquiry mind i suppose. I often feel there's more going on than we're being told, that and, I don't completely trust the Government's official response. No Government has ever told the truth fully, and well, my intuitions are telling me there's more coming we're not aware of.
