The owner of a local waxing spa is mounting a public campaign to clear the name of his business after he was served a human rights complaint for denying service to a transgender woman.

Jason Carruthers, the president of Mad Wax on Walker Road, said he was surprised at the legal move since he had explained to the complainant that the spa did not offer Brazilian wax services on male body parts. “I have no male wax staff,” Carruthers said Friday. “We are not able to provide that service.”

Trans-woman (with male genitalia) wants a genital waxing. Staff is all female and not personally comfortable and/or willing to wax male genitals.

Can spa owner legally force employees into doing something they do not feel comfortable doing?

Where does the rights of one (in this case, a Trans person) end and the rights of others begin?

What a messed up world we live in.

All very sad !

The worst of it is that even if the poor guy did have a male wax staff, he wouldn't win. The he/she would have then been upset because of the implied sexual harassment of having his/her body touched by men!

This is the insanity opening the whole thing up has led us to.

Someone is going to be harassed in all this, but because the trasngender is the "victim," it will likely wind up being either some poor woman who will be forced to touch some strange man's balls or the spa owner who will likely lose his livelihood or both ... because some person thinks their personal mental reality is more important than tangible reality.

It's only fair...And they should require urinals in ALL the bathrooms...

If she’s making it up, she’s just making life harder for every other trans person out there. If the don’t wax penises and testicles as the owner alleges then that’s the end of it, physically you have one or the other (both in rare cases) . You can be trans, but you’re going to have issues like this one if you want other people touching your body.

Hmmm...$50,000.00 for NOT getting your balls waxed?

Having both a penis and testicles is not something I would consider rare, they kinda come as part of the male package.

As a woman, I cannot even imagine how painful that would be.

Just get them lasered, problem solved! Never met a laser hair removal specialist with a problem treating the genitals. They actually like those customers. Lasering that area from back to front ends up being about 3-5 dollars after all treatments.

Female and male genetailia. Since trans is going from one to the other, and the shop waxes one, and not the other, I thought it’d be pretty clear what I meant from context.
