Are we sure he retired? Or was he forced out? I believe it was the Chief Detective who threaten to make the info public if Feds failed to investigate.

Well I read it's the mandatory retirement age of 63. He is indeed the Chief who supposedly was really verbal about it according to some sites. What amazes me if the detectives that saw the insurance are dead how come he's still alive?

Likely the deaths were warnings to others who saw to keep quiet. Imagine the conspiracy theories and suspicion had he been shot.

We never did get much of an explanation for why Benedict XVI retired. He's still alive 5 years later, so poor health doesn't seem like a likely reason. Looking back now that I've been red-pilled, it seems likely he was forced out in some kind of coup.
