I don't need to share beers with you. I share beers with me, and I'm far more interesting to drink with than you. Mr. Gin and Mrs. Tonic got my back, so I don't need to be your 'bro.'

I don't care about your happy life, your merry family, your nice house, your weekend BBQ's. I don't want to know about softball leagues, karaoke bars, burger joints, paintball guns, fishing excursions, or speedboat races.

Stop with the invitations! Your stupid life is different than my stupider life and I don't want no parts mixing, other than my rum and coke.

Stop trying to involve me, include me, befriend me, or even save me! I drink alone and that's the way it is. I know you don't understand. Good! That's why ignorance is your friend here, because it won't be me.

Well said. I will always turn down invites where there will be alcohol...because I do NOT drink and drive anymore. If I dont know definitevely that I have a way home, I don't participate. Learned a looong time ago that lesson.

I prefer to drink alone as well. Some may say that makes me an alcoholic. I can neither claim or refute that nomenclature. If my wishing to drink alone makes me an alcoholic, so be it. I don't see myself as that.

But I too would rather drink alone...

You sound very much like me and my wife.
We are very friendly people to work with and when we bump into friends on the street but we have very little interest in hanging out with others in our free time.

I don't want to come to a bbq.
I don't want to attend your super bowl party.
I don't want to get together for drinks.
We don't do gossip..


We have learned long ago to be straightforward with people about our feelings on the subject. It has always worked for us and most people understand.

At the end of the day, can you really hold it against someone for with all intentions, trying to have a good interaction with someone they're interested in?

At the end of the day, is it a real problem to say "why do people want to appreciate my company"?

Things could be worse I suppose.
