Define life?

Define life as if you are explaining it to a CREATOR Creation(s) that has/have no concept of what life is or means to humans.

Life is something created from natural occurrences. Life can also be associated with things created unnaturally...

If robots like the transformers formed within some natural cold nebula they would be considered life even if robots to humans.

If humans or aliens spliced genetics from various CREATOR Creations mixed with artificial intelligence enhancement that hybrid or chimera would be a form of unnatural life...

To 1, the meaning of life is to respect & protect life once you become aware of life, ultimately.

Consider some CREATOR Creations from another galaxy or dimension nearing or already near (within Sol space) that never heard of what life is or means.
How would you want the meaning and importance of life to be explained to them if they contacted EA*RTH and had plans to visit?
Keep in mind they studied this and many other inhabited planets behaviors associated with livestock and wars for example so their perception of existence may not be what your perception of life is.

But how would you define it to beings that have not heard of it?
If existence to them means rule over and control in order to stay ahead of the rest to ensure the stability and preservation of their kind, how would you define life to them? Or would you except their meaning of it?

Life, at its core, is survival. It's the first thing life ever knew. As soon as life was created, it had to start surviving. Life started evolving out of necessity to survive. The only thing that matters to life is staying alive.

Every life form we know is built for the environment it lives in because it adapted to survive in it.

Ummm...life is the animating factor within the construct which when present imbues the inanimate with animation...
Once life is no longer present within the construct...animation ceases...

Once animation ceases...decay degrades the construct and returns the organism to the environment from which it was formed...

At its' root, life is simply the experience of decay. Human's have the unique ability to transform this decay into something more meaningful by using various tools granted to them by their creators.

Before you jump to aliens, you should really consider the spatiotemporal logic of ecology - both physically and affectively.

When you do this, you come to recognize that "what needs to be explained" can be explained by referencing these sorts of conditions. Natural processes - the "mundane" - should always be considered before you posit something that is a speculation (alien life) rather than a related with reality.

it is an elaborate construct designed by you to show your significant other that it is best if women don't know all the things that run through a man's mind, because as is plain to see there's a whole lot of rubbish in the mix.

I tend to consider or relate those types of inter-ultra dimensional CREATOR energies or entities to the paranormal/supernatural areas of existence.
I am not sure if some of these beings are part of the once living who have crossed over and if their form or appearance and their abilities are related to activities when they were living or just based off of their behavior within Existence.
Or if these entities which can at times be formless like signal/wave are created primarily that way to inhabit those paranormal/supernatural regions. Regions that I feel the human Soul/Spirit is deeply connected to.
