Is anybody else extra restless and losing sleep over what’s going on in the world right now ?

Truly, what's going on in the world now isn't all that different than what has always gone on in the world. I used to feel on edge about things maybe 10-15 years ago, but it finally dawned on me that it's going to be the same rat race whether I'm worried about it or not. Might as well give up my worries to Christ. Everyone dies. Everyone suffers. The world is always on the brink of some major gamer change, and sometimes planet altering events do happen. They've happened before. Just keep your head in the game and live life in the best way you can because whatever is going to happen is going to happen.

Even if your stuck in a major metro pit of despair, (POD), you can turn off the TV and Radio and get noise cancelling headset. Dodge the hype!

What do you do to phase it out and stay grounded , calm , mindful of your emotions and in a state of balance ?

Don't stress over things that you have no power to change. Instead, focus on the things that you can change, even if your influence is miniscule. Stress kills.

So all the news broadcasts lately with the flurry of horrible events taking place has definitely left me with some insomnia lately ?

Anybody else feeling that butterflies in your feeling stomach that this is all leading to big planet altering events ?

And if so , this is why I post in this section . What do you do to phase it out and stay grounded , calm , mindful of your emotions and in a state of balance ?

Outside of the obvious ( plugging out from all media outlets ,WIFI) and getting out in nature ..

If you for various personal reasons can’t afford to do that - how to you function in the midst of it all and still maintain a positive outlook ?

I think it’s crucial we all have those outlets and stay as positive as possible . Because no matter how challenging life can be , it’s always worth living ! And living it to its fullest

No. Don't know how young you are but...

I lived thru the '67 Detroit riots, Nam, Russian Nukes on ships near US Waters.. and a dozen other potential "world ending" events..

50 yrs ltr? Still here.. Shut off the news, computer, radio.. Get outside.. You'll still be here tomorrow, next week, next month.

Peace

Yep, reminds me of...

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

I used to stress out over things like meteors hitting the Earth, earthquakes, nuclear war, the "end of the world", etc. Then I realized that I couldn't stop them anyway so what was the point in stressing out over them? The most that I can do is try to harden the house, have a SHTF plan, and try my best to survive if something happens. But other than that, meh.

This is what family and faith is for.

So, no, I have no problem sleeping. The things you worry about are out of your control.

I take extra-strength Damitol

Falling for those big pharma television ads again, are you?

Fukitol works way better!

Damitol is for lightweights.

My, aren't you clever

No sweat. All the greats steal my jokes, I'm used to it

On-topic: Oh sure I'm stressed, but it has nothing to do with the world or the way media presents it. Living under a rock is stressful enough as it is.

Thank you for all your replies guys.

I’ve gotten much better over the years at learning to cope with stress when it comes to things that are outside of my control.

I will always strive to be optimistic no matter how bleak current events may be.

I think you guys are right on a lot of points and sometimes I just need to give all the play by play news broadcasts a break , plug out and just focus on things that bring me happiness.

Cheers ATS

Coming to this late but wanted to add my two-cents.

I don't get worried or stressed about the state of the world in which we live. I do get sad sometimes, frustrated and generally disappointed but I don't lay awake at night anticipating a disaster. However, I do often day-dream and think "Maybe today is the day where the Earth just falls apart." But I am almost optimistic about it in a way, not to sound like a jerk. Like... looking forward to the next steps, a fresh start, etc. I have sleep disruption disorder which is related to narcolepsy where I can fall asleep anywhere and anytime but I wake up often.
