Are modesty ponchos and chaste coverups coming to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue?
Multiple sources tell Page Six that the annual annals of female anatomy is facing a sticky situation after Sports Illustrated was purchased by the wholesome Midwestern folks at Meredith along with other Time Inc. publications.
Plus there are further concerns the bikini bonanza could hit a bum note following the #MeToo movement.
We’re told that SI staffers are mulling what the purchase by the Iowa-based publisher — whose far less racy titles have names like Family Circle, Family Fun and Midwest Living — could mean for the swimsuit flesh fest.

The swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated has been a mainstay in adolescent life for generations. Yeah, it's just beautiful women wearing hardly anything. And sure, the internet has taken the allure of scantily-clad women away as nothing is off limits online.

Admiring the female form has been a pastime lived by men for millennia.

Business is business I suppose and as an aged elderly old fart, even looking too long probably stresses my elderly ticker. But it's a shame to see something of my youth disappear.

I would add pics, but they are a bit racy.

It would be ridiculous and would kill the magazine.

Remember when Playboy tried to go nudeless?

It only lasted a few short months and almost put them completely out of business.

If anything the SI swimsuit edition needs to be a little more racy- they're competing with the internet now a days.

Personally, I like the purple one, it's cute! I wonder if their skin cancer rates are any lower in places where full swimwear coverage is the norm?

If they dicker with SI, it's not going to go over well with the masses who keep them in business. Like was already pointed out with Playboy, don't fix what ain't broke, it bites you in the ass.

Always thought old farts getting off on girls younger than their daughters is pretty sick. I understand men are more visually turned on than women (well, some or most) but I know of too many sex addicts and this does come off as porn.

We do have a lopsided society at this time. It'd be nice to find some balance.

America isn't the only country where women go swimming. Go multicultural. Let's see what the swimsuits are all across the globe. From Russia to Brazil.

Let's see #MeToo touch that.

Wouldn't they be pretty much the same swimsuits? Or maybe in Russia it'd be like a bear fur bikini or something?

Being from the Midwest, it would be more culturally accurate to say that the models will be plus-sized and wearing string bikinis.

They don't call it the Twiowa Zone for nothing.

Still digging around, but this was one of the first ones with pics I could find. It seems it doesn't matter much what one wears as water clothing, Indians wear their saris, we wear as little as possible. Muslims wear burkinis, the Asians have a weird thing dubbed a facekini they wear to keep their facial skin pale.

It's interesting, the push we've had lately for modesty laws, and shifting people away from 'showing to much skin' and dressing modestly again.. I'm starting to feel like we're slipping back into the early 1900's.

Then you have the opposite side #freethenipple and the like. Where I live, they is a city where women can go around topless.

Meh. Evolution has enabled the weak and weak minded to inherit the earth. They seem to procreate faster than the strong and intelligent because obviously their are more of them than us. Getting rid of the SI SWIMSUIT MAG. Because of what?

It’s only gonna get worse...

There are plenty of places to 'appreciate' the female form. I am not certain we need a Sports Magazine to pretend to do an annual story on 'swimwear'.

THe part I find most ironic is that the very people who chide one group for wanting a bit of modesty turn around and celebrate another group for modesty.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, look at how the fashion industry has treated Christians who want just a bit more modesty, but then turn around and embrace Muslim women's fashion which is actually far more modest than anything a Christian woman might have asked for.

Oh, I'm very much aware of the hypocrisy.

Seems like it is everywhere.

It's maddening to keep up with too.
