They are relative to one another for sure, but I think your kinda leaving out their base definitions from the equation.

Conservative= traditions > change

Progressive = change > traditions..


So that doesn’t mean every idea the left has is a good idea...but it does mean that every good idea will come out of the left.

Umm, you're confusing me, man. You stated the exact opposite in the post I replied to (this post):

I think what it really is is that what was conservative last generation , is liberal this generation..

A generation ago the conservatives position was that interracial marriage should be illegal, and the liberal positions was “it should be legal, but it’s not for me”.

This generation conservatives think it should be legal , but it’s not for me and liberals think it is perfectly normal..

I think it's been said that the parties have changed over time. Reagan would be considered liberal today. A bit of a stretch but has some merit imo.

At the same time you have the pendulum swing of revolution and counter revolution.


For example Slavery is abolished in a revolution where countless things are improved . Then there is a counter revelation (the KKK) by those unhappy with that change that undoes most, but not all of the progress made during the revolution..


Then there was the revolution (civil rights) then there was the counter revolution to it that undoes half of the civil rights act..


Wash rinse , repeat...

You might want to double check your facts. It was the Black Panthers who were at the poll locations bullying and threatening physical harm to people if they didn't vote for Obama and then Hillary.

Republicans were the party of Lincoln that freed the slaves and Nixon founded the EPA. LBJ put Japanese and some German Americans in concentration camps and JFK was a huge proponent of what became known as supply-side economics (AKA Reaganomics) advocating for major tax cuts, lower regulations, and low inflation.

...and the left (mostly liberals, but the "left" in general) DOES have a lot of GREAT ideas. There is no denying that. But they also have some ridiculous and far-fetched ideas. Most are predicated on wishful thinking (which isn't always bad, like you said new ideas and all) and some are based on malicious intent (or revenge, jealousy, etc)

It is the very last category I have a problem with. But wide and far that doesn't represent *all* on the left. IMO, "liberals" are good folks with a differing opinion (on some issues). It is the radicals I take extreme issue with, and are exclusively the group I refer to when mistakenly saying "liberals"

Just for the record, there have been 12 new Amendments/changes to the US Constitution since 1913, including the 27th Amendment in 1992. So even that requires & receives updating.
