I believe in the Mandela Effect but on this one I remember "sitting."

Interesting - thank you!

Here's the original U.S. single
1st verse "sitting' , last verse "floating" same as always

What do I win?

You win a lesson about The Mandela Effect!

The Mandela Effect (ME) is where the 'current reality' doesn't match a large group of people's memory, whom all remember the same exact thing independently, and strongly infer such. So with the ME, there's no need to say "No, see - current reality!" - we all already know that's how the current lyrics are.

That's why I said what I said in the OP. Did you read the whole thing?

It wouldn't make much sense to make a thread saying: "Can We All Agree This Bowie Song Is Exactly How Reality Says?".

Right? That's like a common sense thing.

If you need more help, let me know!

You know the version you posted is the same as mine right? He says "sitting'" the first time and "floating" the second. I've been singing this song since I was 13 and it's never changed. This is reality

Here is the original version from 1969. Bowie then reworked it for the released version.

In the original he sing " floating " in the first verse, and " sitting " in the second verse.

What?!?

Ahh - ok.. Makes sense now. I was starting to freak out!!

I thought the version I posted was the same as what reality is now - but I see now that it is the same as what reality is now.

I wouldn't of taken you seriously if you hadn't mentioned you were 13 when you first sang it (this is reality).

If you would of been 12 the first time you sang it, I would of thought:
'This guy doesn't understand the Mandela Effect'.

Either way - you figured it out and solved the Mandela Effect by finding an ever-elusive YouTube video with the same lyrics as the other more prominent YouTube video!!1!

Nice work?

Odd, I remember the line being, "sitting on my big can" (i.e. "fat ass...."). In other words, the space program is a waste of $$$ and sending these jokers to space is ludicrous when there are starving people here on Earth that cold use that money.

Prove me wrong.

I've heard different performances by the same artist using different words for lyrics, changing them up a bit.

Maybe review every performance sung by him to see if it is never different.

Happens in other songs also.

Eagles Take It Easy comes to mind.

I used to be a big scoffer of the ME. Not anymore. I remember Forrest Gump “Momma used to say ‘life is like a box of chocolates”. Now: “Momma used to say ‘life was like a box of chocolates”.

Can I just ask.. Were you one of the people making fun of me when I first started making ME threads here?

Same as it ever was - glad I could single-handedly "solve" your memory issues. Have a great weekend!

I never made fun. I just didn’t personally buy the idea, chalked it up to faulty memory. Faulty memory can be attributed if it was just a few things, but there’s too many examples to just be random. And it’s all due to the Large Hadron Collider. Just warming us up for The Great Deception.

Pretty snarky post in reply to someone who explained away your Mandela effect nonsense pretty handily. Get defensive when you are wrong I see.

Ahh, that's cool - 'and there would be great confusion in those days..'

I have a feeling we're all going to be aware eventually, so I was wanting to hear in depth from someone that used to be outspoken against the ME.

All I see there is you refusing to admit you were wrong.

But it's ok, you do on the next page. Now remember to not forget what you've learned and we can begin the healing process.

I was outspoken, but I don’t think in a bad way. It’s easier to attribute ab(para)normal things to a common solution than admit it to be a result of something which is unfamiliar. It’s human nature to become defensive to the point of being nasty rather than admit it can’t easily be explained by an understandable fact.

Bloody hell, he also had really bad teeth back in the day. I remember him with good teeth! Maybe he was Paul McCartneyed?

Seriously great song though, one of my faves
