Kanye isn't the first one. Nor will he, we can safely bet, be the last.

How dare he go against the grain? Disagree with those who have only his best interests at heart? Etc...

Free speech? You may have heard of it??

Supporting ones right to say it, doesn't, in any way, imply one agrees with it.

Remind me if I ever get famous to keep my mouth shut about anything not having to do with whatever made me famous.

EDIT: Although if I do, remind me to put it in a song or a stand-up routine or somewhere else I can claim it's part of my "art," and not necessarily a personal view.

Yes, and i'm gonna exercise mine now.

I despise filthy, violent, woman hating, anti cop, RAP and the no talent, scumbags like Kanye West that record it.

I wish Trump would stop undoing everything Obama has done!

And you assume you know what Kanye means and the rest of us are getting offended over nothing. The rest of us are offended because we all know Kanye is and has been off his rocker for quite sometime. We are laughing that people like you unless I'm not understanding standing you, could possibly take anything that man says seriously. I would like to hear Kanye explain his comments further but he will probably just dig the hole deeper. perhaps that's why he admires trump so much, they both know how to put their foot in their mouths.

The funny thing is when LeBron eloquently explains himself he should stick to playing basketball because he doesn't like trump. Kanye speaks in riddles and no one knows what he actually means but the right supports him because he likes trump...get it? No one came out jumping on the Eminem bandwagon when he came out because we all knew he probably wasn't the best spokesman for anyone lol yet I see the right jumping to defend Kanye, where was the defense of kapernicks free speech?

I don't care if Trump likes him. Not a fan of either of them, so far as their personality traits are concerned.

So throwing that picture at me isn't going to change my opinion in the slightest.

Somebody once told me (I don't know if it was a quote from somebody else), that "Everyone has free speech as long as nobody cares."

to me it sounds like Kanye hit the nail on the head with that comment. after all that time, it does sound like a choice. You can either choose to be the submissive slave, or you can choose to refuse being a slave, even if that means death. its all about your personal convictions in life. I say either be a slave "by choice" or fight for your life "by choice". I really, really do not like Kanye, or anything about him really, but damn, he kinda made a point with that comment....... BTW feel free to blast away on this comment, it's only words.....

That’s utter nonsense.

What do you say to someone who says slavery of the 400 years of the black experience is a choice? He‘s not talking about now.

If he wants to speak in riddles then he has failed to communicate what he wants to say or you think that he’s saying or wants to say

maybe not the first few years of slavery were a choice,...... but 400 years? c'mon man...... sounds like some minds were made up after awhile there doesn't it? Ya know you have the choice to not be a slave right?

All the Alt-right racists love the stupidity and blindness of a black man who wants to blame the victim.

This is Alt right nonsense. Kanye can be a hero of the alt-right. We'll see how far that gets him.

Trump cries every day about how the press is hurting him. Why is that justified? Is that Dragon energy, Isn't he being a victim

You people NEVER LOOK AT YOUR OWN BS

this is ALT-left nonsense at its finest here above....

I think the whole idea of choice is being over simplified.

Choice is not just selection of an option from a list of possibilities, without taking into consideration the consequences related to each selection made.

If the end result is death, then you can't choose life, you may only choose the time or perhaps the method of your death.

I don't know anything about Kanye, outside of what is posted online, usually when he has done or said something offensive. From what little I have heard him say, I don't consider him an extremely bright person. I think he is doing a great job at what they are using him for. I personally can't take him seriously.

Not even close!!! I have qualified my opinions as opinions again and again. I have quoted Kanye's complete statement again and again for context. I have even stated repeatedly that because Kanye is speaking figuratively... in metaphors... that his words are subject to interpretation... to our own experiences and confirmation bias.

The rest of us are offended because we all know Kanye is and has been off his rocker for quite sometime.

Because you think or believe or suspect as much... it is impossible for you to know that.

We are laughing that people like you unless I'm not understanding standing you, could possibly take anything that man says seriously.

Oh dear. No. Just no. No! No! No!!!

The sun rises in the east. I know that. I knew that before Kanye was even born. So if Kanye said that the sun rises in the east, I wouldn't argue just because Kanye said it. Nor would I question my knowledge just because Kanye said it. It is what it is no matter what Kanye says or doesn't say.

So taking these concepts seriously isn't about Kanye at all. It's all about me. If anything, I'm just hearing what I want to hear due to my own confirmation biases.

I would like to hear Kanye explain his comments further...

Me too. But that's the biggest problem here -- too many people don't want to hear Kanye, and don't want anyone else to hear Kanye, and want to shut Kanye up one way or another.

I'd love to have a conversation with Kanye personally. I think we'd disagree as much as we agreed, but I also think we'd have an interesting conversation, and that both of us would be left with much to think about.

... but he will probably just dig the hole deeper.

That's a distinct possibility. I won't say probability. I'd give it 50/50 odds. I'm sure he's learning quite a bit these days about how he expresses himself. He may figure out better ways to say what he wants to say. Or maybe he wants to be controversial and provocative... in which case I'd really like to hear him explain why.

But none of this can or will happen as long as folks refuse to listen, while telling him what he means and/or refusing to let him explain himself.

perhaps that's why he admires trump so much, they both know how to put their foot in their mouths.
