They look freaky but they're not vicious



If you think the possum in the youtube clip looked weird, you should check out the sugar glider possum.



They can actually glide up to 90 metres from tree to tree.

Anyway, although opossums are considered a different animal to Australian possums... The Australian possum was named after the American opossum, due to their similarities.

Also interestingly, it's now believed that all Australian native mammals (which are all marsupials) have a common ancestor with an American marsupial, which migrated to Australia many millions of years ago.... So technically, opossums (or something very similar) populated Australia with all its native mammals.
