It's a sad song that pulls you along

I consider this song a type of dirge, despite its seemingly spry and upbeat calypso rhythms.

The lyrics tell of the downtrodden dockworkers on the graveyard shift. It is a story of destitution and despair, with more bad news around every corner (the hidden deadly tarantula.)

I am attracted to songs of sadness. They remind me that others too feel pain and distress; even in a world that appears joyful and care-free on the surface.

Bring me your sadness

Do you have any blues, dirges, or songs of depression?

this is a dark one!

Love the way they have the speeding-up and slowing-down sound of a sewing machine in this song.

The inevitable cycle of life.

When you've got the time, about an hour of solitude, you can't go past the genius of one Mr Henryk Gorecki who is, in recent years, no longer with us.

His Symphony no 3 - also known as Symphony of Sorrowful Songs, is a wonder. A torturous, beautiful, wonder.

I pretty much cried the first time I heard this song a few years ago. It struck really deep when the transformation in the song happens, feels like it's coming back to life almost. Really beautiful.

This song has become one of my all time favorites, so well written, he really writes from the gut. If you like it, check out the acoustic version also, it's killer!

Acoustic version.

One of the saddest songs ever. Written by Trent Reznor of NIN.

I'm pretty sure that was his final recording.
Sad so thick you could cut it with a knife.
