Democratic policies have brought the destruction of Detroit, Chicago, and next in line is the state of California. For as long as I can remember, minus Arnie, California has been run by Democrats. The same problems that the policies produced in other cities, are now tarnishing the Golden State.

1) Poverty - California has a huge issue with homeless and poverty. 1 in 4 of Californians live in poverty. Homeless rates are the highest in the nation. This is despite California dedicating huge sums of money to battle this issue. The excuses are "the weather is good so they come here," or " other cities send their homeless here," which even if true (although I do not believe so) is called unintended consequences of policies enacted. Not to forget, California also has the highest income disparity in the nation, despite being one of the Democratic perpetual promise to fight income disparity. Oh P.S. McDonalds is hiring for $15-18 per hour. But they still dont understand how supply and demand works. Californians also spend 75% of their income only on housing, its no surprise they barely have anything left at the end of the day.

* California Poverty California Poverty
* California Homeless

2) Pollution and Filth - Despite having strict legislation regarding pollution and rebates for electric cars, the Golden State has 8 out of the 10 most polluted cities in the U.S. Again, the excuses are quick to come. "we are the 7 largest economy in the world," "we produce most of the american agriculture," etc... First, GDP includes imports, so the fact the California is the 7th largest economy in the world, does not mean that it is in terms of production, it just means we import A LOT. Which then gets calculated into the GDP. Does California produce a lot ? Yes, but this can't explain why despite the fact that Cali has some of the strictest laws, special gas blends and higher taxes on gas, they have the worst pollution by far. Trash pollution is also a huge problem. This follows from the homelessness. Just walk down streets of SF or LA. Smells like urine, I personally seen homeless defecating on the sidewalks multiple times.

3) Segregation, racism, and antisemitism - Lecturing the south is easy, but following the words of your own lectures ? Not so much. Segregation in both schools and communities are still a huge problem, and more so than most Republican run states. It makes sense when you figure out that California is also home to the most racists and anti semites in the nation. Thats right, not Tennessee, not Alabama, CALIFORNIA. So in 2018 the accepting and inclusive liberal state, is still racist and divided. Just look at the antisemitism at UC Berkeley.

* California Segregation
* California AntiSemitism
* More California AntiSemitism

4) Government - The big elephant in the room is the states pension plan that is unsustainable. This has been discussed here on ATS a few times recently so I will skip on going into details.

* In 40 years years no water reservoir has been added by the Cal Government, yet since then, the population exploded, so has agriculture. Solution ? Perpetual drought, and massive increase in water bills for the small man. Mine personally went up 17% only this year. But corporations' which are the biggest users of water ? Nope.
* No money for roads or pensions but billions for a bullet train to nowhere. Nothing shows the dysfunction of California governance more than the bullet train project. Before a track was put down the delays and overrun in budget was massive !
* Education system with unions, tenure, and horrid results. No new universities built in decades, but many new prisons built. California spends more on prisons than on education, and they spend quite a bit on education. Despite that, they rank around 27th in the nation, depending on the source.

5) Population of Liberal Dominated Areas - The mindset of "I'm an educated programmer, who is working to save kids in Africa," while walking right past homeless in his own city is frankly disgusting. These self righteous, superior, educated people are so far out there that Hubble cant even locate them. They complain about 6 figures salaries not being enough, yet vote in the same shmucks time and time again. They want to raise salaries for the middle class, then do not understand why all prices rise with the higher supply of money in the state. Freaking clueless. They all talk about how great California is but complain that most of their money is going on housing and cost of living.The Republican base is completely left out because to areas in North and South are mostly Democratic, result ? I have not voted in a while. No point to.

Despite claiming to be one of the wealthiest States, fighting poverty, claiming to be all inclusive and lecture everyone about racism, California seems to be the worst offender of all. The hypocrisy is real, and is disgusting. How can I explain my new born daughter why the "richest state" has tent cities with hundreds and thousands of homeless ? My prediction is California will end up becoming another Detroit and Chicago within 15 years, probably much less. Most income in California comes from the top 1% which is around 2000 people. That is unsustainable, and once they are taxed to oblivion and leave, and automation will reduce the numbers of engineers needed in the valley, #e will hit the fan. Not to mention the pension plans recently being open to "modification," or in other words a reduction in pension benefits. Needless to say, I want out of this sorry place.

Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Haters gonna hate, and all that, whatever.

You want to leave? Buh bye!

Meanwhile, the warm California sun sun is shining in my neck of the woods, the sky is clear, the beer is cold (there are almost as many craft breweries in this city as there are Starbucks!), the rib eye is chilling in the fridge (got to take it out soon to warm up for the grill), just picked the greens for my salad from my garden, and life is good!

Oh, and yes, all the bills are paid, my mortgage is less than my rent was 5 years ago (same city), and my credit cards are all paid in full.

P.S.: I have full health care for life thanks to my union.

Did I mention that Life Is Good?

As a California resident, eventually I will need to move out due to costs.

Here in its very expensive and to live here you need to either have a high paying job, live with parents or live with roommate.

Trades will not help you here. I know a plumber who has to work another job (apartment management) in order to make ends meet.

Its very difficult to find a job here. Far too many people want to live the California life and because of that, they have to compete with many other people who wants the same job.

Due to high costs, there are many college students who are homeless.

For racism, go to Beverly Hills and you will see many rich white people while calling all conservatives and Trump racists, will say all brown people are poor.

You should tell that to the working class minorities living in California. Here in LA, many of us are forced to leave our homes due to rising costs.

Very factual and thoroughly thought out response. I like how you addressed each one of my points individually. You are a perfect example to the point I make about the population here.
Im glad that you are well off, im also glad you make no effort to understand that there is a major poverty issue here, but as long as you got food right ?

Was just outside and CA is looking pretty good despite all your doom porn. A good bunch of your list is opinion.

1. Everywhere ebbs and flows. But if I didn't have much money I'd go where at least the weather was nice a good bunch of the time. Big surprise.

2. I've lived in dirtier places. Sure, no one likes trash.

3. Segregation is actually lessening. More parts of towns are blending. Racism and anti-semitism? Ha! Less here than pretty much anywhere else. Projecting perhaps?

4. Local government & spending... is an issue everywhere.

5. All merely opinion. As a CA resident I don't share your view.

Thanks for your response. Before saying that what I say is merely opinion, did you bother looking at the links provided ? Is it only my opinion that the most polluted cities are in Cali ? Is it my opinion too that Cali has the most homeless out of every state ? Is it my opinion that Cali has blundered the bullet train to nowhere ? Please read and check out the links I have provided to support my "opinion." If you need additional info after you re-read, I will gladly provide for any question you have. Segregation is getting better, thats what you are going to go with ? Give me a break.

Since 1983 you've had a Republican governor for 24 of the past 35 years.

"A good bunch of your list is opinion."

A "good bunch". Yup, saw your links, some of them riddled with opinion as well (and others only telling half the story, like you are trying to do due to your own bias).

1. Really dude? There are plenty of places in CA that are cheap. An average is just that. Yes, we have very high rent areas, but also a ton of really cheap areas as well. It's a state with big cities where people want to live. Duh.

2. Yes, I know your # 2 point was merely your own opinion. No links there. Pollution is ridiculously better than it was in the early 90s... thanks to environmental regulation.

3. I'm well aware that after Trump was elected anti-semitic attacks went up across the nation drastically due to the empowerment and pot-stirring he did. Yup, we have conservatives here too that got sucked into it.

4. Do you want a full picture or just one that suits your agenda?

5. Ok, you're just reinforcing the fact that this is merely your opinion and that you are full of bias. Noted.

First it was "only my opinion", then its also the articles I linked "half truths" and opinions too. Answer one question honestly. Are 8 out of 10 most polluted cities in Cali ? Yes or no ? Yes some cities are cheap, those are typically in areas that are polluted Bakersfield, Modesto, Stockton, AKA places nobody wants to live. Even though they are cheap Cali taxes are Cali taxes.

Again you use logical fallacy that because its better now its ok. The fact that segregation is much better now does not make it ok, the fact that pollution is much better now does not make it ok. We still have the most pollution despite heavy regulations on the small man. Corporations like Uber for example that clog our roads and contribute to pollution significantly are good to go.

Is it just my opinion that 8 out of 10 most polluted cities are in Cali ?
Is it my opinion only that California has a wage disparity issue and the most homeless population ?
Is it my opinion that California taxes are among the highest in the nation yet infrastructure is among the worst ?
Is it just my opinion that LA and SF are wealthy yet very dirty cities ? (the fact that you lived in dirtier cities does not matter)
Is it just my opinion that racism is a pretty bad here ? ADL and many other facts would disagree.

Your argument boils down to im successful, im well off, its bad, but its getting better. Again, solid logic. "Every other state spends," "pollution is worst in the nation, but its getting better," " segregation is bad, but its getting better." Yawn. Not one fact or proof its even getting better.

Nope.

What I am saying is what I actually said in my post;

You don’t like it in California? You want to leave?

Bye bye! Don’t let anything stop you!

California doesn’t need you, California doesn’t want you if you don’t want to be here.

California certainly doesn’t owe you anything simply because you are here, although we will at least try to do our best to help you if you need it, even if that means we have to pay higher taxes than many of us would prefer.

Same here.

Was born and raised here, with the knowledge that I would have to work for what I wanted and that my decisions would have consequences.

Yes, I’ve paid a price, but now I recognize that, in terms of what I’ve gained, the price was a bargain.

If you don’t like it in California, leave.

If you feel you can’t “make it” in California, move to someplace where you can.

Complaining is just the start, just half the job.

The other half is figuring out a solution and then putting that solution into action.

How did you conclude that I "dont have a plan?" Are you assuming based on me saying I want out ? Just like you are assuming I dont work hard enough ? Just cause you inquired and didnt jump to conclusions, I do have a plan to leave, it takes time moving 2 fully functioning businesses to another state. Thanks for asking and not jumping to conclusions. My whole post is about me not liking it and leaving. Its a rant, hence its posted in "Rants." Lets revisit how you do not need me here in a 5 years.

Note I never said that im not leaving, note I never said I cant make it here either. You just keep making things up. When you decide to address any of my points with facts and links, we can talk.
